Adding Crews makes this a very successful initial recruiting year for Coach Pearl.

Agreed! Getting a player that was recruited from teams such as UNC, Wake Forest, Uk, Ga Tech (a bit) etc.....is huge.

If Crews does announce for UTK then it will mean tha in just 6 months and with a total of 0 wins at UTK Pearl has landed a Top 10-15 National recruiting class. That should speak VOLUMES about the type of coach we now have in Knoxville. Imagine what he will be able to do with this next recruiting class that he has a year a half to work on. His next recruiting class will be exactly the players he is looking for to fit into his system and they will be studs. Big things are in store for UTK MENS basketball, and its going to be due to the hard work and energy of Bruce Pearl.

Psst, Willie...there is now plenty of talent to surround you at UTK. Distance is the only factor keeping you from attending college in Knoxville. Your family can move to Knoxville, then that wouldn't be a problem and you can be at UTK. :)

Most sites have him listed as giving a verbal to Tennessee. At this point in time, I think that it's safe to say that he's a Vol.

even if he hasnt announced yet, its official, I got this from scout.com insider:
Duke Crews to SEC

Duke Crews By Jeff Goodman
National Recruiting Analyst
Date: Oct 17, 2005

In about eight months or so, Duke Crews went from a mid-major guy to one headed to the SEC.

Duke Crews is headed to Tennessee.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound senior power forward at Bethel (Va.) High, confirmed the news when reached on Monday afternoon – but did not want to comment until he reached all the schools he was considering.

Numerous sources close to the situation told Scout.com that Crews had chosen the Vols.

``I just haven’t announced it yet,” Crews said.

Crews also considered Georgetown and Wake Forest.

Crews burst onto the scene in the spring and went from a mid-major target to one of the most highly sough-after players in the nation. He currently occupies the No. 36 spot on Scout.com’s national rankings and plays much bigger than his size.

North Carolina was also in the mix until recently when they landed a trio of frontline commitments from Deon Thompson, Alex Stepheson and Brandan Wright.

Crews joins big man Wayne Chism and guard Marques Johnson as Tennessee commitments in the Class of 2006.

I'm shocked that we got him. What's the catch? There has to be one.

I've got a good vibe about this bb season... a lotta athletes go to big bb schools to be a part of that hype..post season play, but I think some prime athletes are smart enough to go with a middle range school like Tennessee where they can be part of a grass roots move to make a very good squad. Their talent shows brighter to the next level,

Wow a 5 star recruit for Vols basketball. I have high hopes for this season, but looks like next season we should be rather good. We surround all this young talent we are getting around Lofton and we can do some magic!

whos the last 5 star recruit tennessee brought in???

It looks like Pearl will be the type of coach that will do whatever it takes to win...unlike other coaches we have. I would imagine that if he were the head coach for the football team he would be taken the trash out and dusting off his hands right now. What a breath of fresh air to see another coach besides Pat committed to give it's best to Tennessee and winning instead of giving it to ineffective cronies.

The amazing thing is that Pearl was able to keep a kid from AI's high school, who has a relationship with the Answer, from going to G'Town. I think we're fortunate AI told Duke to go where he wanted, instead of trying to steer him toward DC.

Next on the list is Josh Tabb SG/PG out of Cincinnati 6-4/180

67, do you agree with me that we might be better off holding the rest of our scholarships until spring? Tabb is a marginal SEC prospect. I think if we hold the scholarships, let Pearl's style of play get more exposure throughout the season, and look at the JC ranks, we will be able to put a team on the floor next year that can contend for an NCAA berth.

67, Did you say that there is an outside chance that Kemp might now be reconsidering TN?
