No, after waiting for what seemed a couple of lifetimes for football season to get here I like talking about our next opponents instead of somebody yelling at somebody to sit down.

It's a big game, it should be hyped.

This!

Been saying it all summer long, this game could make or break our season. Play a solid game win or lose and we'll have confidence for the rest of the season. Get blown out and it's possible the players could start believing what all has been said about them for the past several months. I firmly believe confidence can carry a team like ours to a successful season.

Yeah, well, they aren't as good as their press and we're not as bad as ours. (But if they beat us then they should naturally play for the national championship)

They were conference champions and show no signs of slowing down. They deserve the hype. We may catch them off guard though. Our team is one gigantic unknown. The element of surprise coupled with the atmosphere at Neyland could give us a good advantage and enable us to beat one of the best teams we will see all year. I certainly hope so. The world is a much nicer place when you don't watch or listen to these media tools too. I just do not care what they have to say.

If it was UAB or a team like Always Tough LA @ Lafayette we'd all be getting a lot more work done and not wasting as much time on the VN site!

Negative. No reason to hate on them - they are legit. The Ducks are highly ranked for a reason - they had a really strong season last year and they have a potent offense and tons of speed. They're flashy and fun to watch with the spread-option. Had Masoli not been an idiot, they would be sitting in the polls' top 5 easily.

And before anybody says "But they're in the weak PAC-10", check yourself - because we've been beaten by a mediocre UCLA team the past 2 years. Bottom line, we have no reason to whine.

Where does over hyping Oregon help Tennessee in recruiting, sponsorship, and team recognition. I'm not just talking about VN, but sports media outlets.

I'd say that it would help the Vols whether they win or lose. If they win, it makes the win bigger. If they lose, it was to a good team.

Hype is good for all.

Ya, I feel like when you are the underdog, hyping the favored team only helps.

True. On the other hand, it's probably not good for Oregon. If they win, people will just say they should have.
