As I'm wont to do, every once in a great while, I peek into non-SEC opponents websites. Just to get a feel for their attitudes and perceptions. As said before, I almost never post anything myself, just read. Anyway, it seems the Ducks are similar to our Vols in terms of practices and to some extent player personnel and expectations. It's only practice and every team in the USA is probably saying the same things you heard CBJ and UO coaches saying. But it is interesting reading all the same.

One thing, I saw mention of one of their board mods trying to get the UT board mods to let them post their tailgate info. They really want to welcome Vols fans. But the UT mods aren't cooperating. Seems silly to me. I may be crazy and worse but liked their boards so much I think we should schedule them regularly. Home and home games maybe once every 2 years. Why? It seems their fans and ours get along very well, before, during, and after games. It's almost like having family members for a friendly game of BBQ and backyard flag football -atmosphere-wise. I think it's cool for two institutions who can put on games where each team tries to pound the other through the ground and yet sort of shake hands and go out for a beer after it's over. None of that hateful stuff seen like that Bama fan who prick attacked the LSU player, or the one who poisoned Auburn's trees, or Gator fans throwing piss balloons and damaging cars of visiting fans. A frequent UO-UT game may actually teach people what college games are supposed to be like.

Oregon fans are certainly some of the nicest, but I think that could change if they were in our division and we played them every year.

You must not hang out with many stoners. They are some of the most laid back, nicest people on the planet.

I love how people assume all the Oregon fans smoke herb, just because they are from Oregon.

On the same token, I bet they all think we drink moonshine and beat our sisters in our rusted pickup.

Stereotypes make me laugh.

I don't think they believe we stop at a beating.

If you live in TN, and you don't drink the 'shine, then you're not a Tennessean.

They're not stereotypes if they're true.

Woodsman, link them to VN, I don't think the VN mods would have an issue with it (but I could be wrong)

I think I'll leave that to GoDuck or another Duck poster here as I'm sure they'll see this thread. Cause like I said, I almost never post in opponent boards, just read. I'm curious but go to great effort to not become a troll on others boards. Doing this wouldn't be trolling, I know, but prefer staying with my personal policy of look but don't touch.

Oregon fans were great when they were in Knoxville. Several Ducks commented on the craziness of game days here and even went to the Vol-Walk. My family has friends in Oregon who came down. That was by far one of my favorite tailgate Saturdays.

Duck for life posted on their board:

"Nice! Not 1, or 2............but 6 fat slow SEC lineman/linebackers (plus 2 defensive backs) trying to run down and catch LMJ.

This year, at Autzen...........Tennessee will regret "Volunteering" to travel back West to play Oregon. Final score; OR 56, UT 17

GO DUCKS!!!"

Not quite in the Bammer hate category but makes me want to beat their azzzes!

I saw that too and felt the same as you. BUT BUT BUT, also noted it was just a few posters and it was at their place and we are just as guilty of pride in our team. So ignored because the bulk of whati've seen as I nosed around Oregon boards and such indicates the UO folks are just plain nice. We got Vols fans who do the same. case in point: The Downfall of Oregon begins Sep.14 - YouTube

Can't fault them for having as much pride in their team as we do in ours. But yeah, I too want to see us return the favor of a beat down at their home.

Volnation spoils us, if you go looking for a good forum to check out from other teams they are all small and barely active. I guess most use the pay sites like rivals or espn etc...

Like any university, we've got our jerk fans as well. Usually newbie bandwagon fans. We try and educate them, get them a little more sophisticated etc. I will say, we do have a few universities who's fans we rarely have civil conversations with..... puppy taildraggers come to mind, keep them off grannies leg, away from the white carpet and spread the newspapers if you have to let one in the house.........

I do want to say thank you for your post. And I've always given Tenn a lot of credit for being one of the few SEC teams willing to play on the West Coast in OOC games.

This game will tell a lot of things about how good a staff UT has.. I don't expect them to beat Oregon. I do expect them to compete and not lay a egg in the second half.. Tennessee has talent comparable to that of Oregon.. Maybe not the speed, but the talent level is close in a lot of ways. They should be bigger on the line of scrimmage. Not sure we can line up and just grind them though.. Might help to keep the game closer if they try it.. Start throwing the ball all over the yard,
and i'd say this one will get away from us quickly..
