I have seen the reports on Sykes being moved to DT at 270 or so. Im not a expert by any means, but according to the norm these days 290 to 300 is the avg. I guess.
My question is,
Is it an advantage to have different size guys for this position, with different abilities?
Meaning, If I was a guard or center, to me it would be a challenge to go from blocking a 300lb. strong guy, that leans on you, to blocking a quicker 270lb. guy. Seems like that would be a lot to prepare for during the week, cause they would bring different skills to account for.
I remember Turk McBride being very disruptive we he moved inside, because the guards, and tackles could not stay in front of him.
Thoughts?
