My wife wants a portable gamer to take with us on vacations to ocuppy our time while in transit. Can you guys help me narrow down the right thing??

I really like the features of the PSP but the price is kind of high - I don't know a whole lot about the DS or GBA SP...looking for help!!

I can tell you that I am looking into the DS also. I think the DS would give you more options then the GBA SP since it would play both games.

I have a PSP and I honestly don't play it that much. Like I mentioned in my other post, I am looking for more of a fun factor and I think the DS may offer that.

I just got off the phone with the dork from the eb games down the street and he definately echoed what you are saying. I am in a hurry for one since we are taking a vacation this weekend with lots of windshield time to waste - the guy even told me to buy a used DS and when I get back next week to come back and return it for credit towards the DS Lite - which from what I understand is just a slimmer, lighter and brighter version of the current DS.

Or buy a DS from Walmart for $119 (the used ones at ebgames are $109). They will give you a $50 trade in on the DS Lite which comes out on June 11th.

Dude told me just to return it and get a credit and then use that credit for the DS lite and pay an extra 20 bucks and it's mine. Either way I guess we wind up in the same spot.

Cool. That works best then.

Which EB Games told you that? I wouldn't mind doing the same thing. Are you in Knoxville?

Memphis - wolfcreek address - you want the number...901-383-8002
I may call locally and see if they would do the same thing. I would like to try one out now but then upgrade when the new one comes out.

this sounds like the Best Buy Rental department - we used to "buy " potable DVD players from them and return them the week after our trips!!!

I asked the EB games here about it and they told me that aren't supposed to do that. I would just have to buy one and return it I guess. I don't know what the big deal would be. They would get a sale out of it and still have their used DS also. Seems like a win win.

I would just buy it -try it out for a few days - return it and buy the new one at a later date.

you can always call Andrew in memphis and see what he says!!!

I agree with you - they still get the sale of the new one and get the old one back...no big deal to me!!

PSP has a limited but okay selection of movies, music etc. But, it loses its charge very fast and its game library is quite frankly terrible. DS doesn't have multimedia stuff, movies and what not, but the games are fantastic. DS all the way.

Hey freak - they have a 7-day return policy on the used goods but you gotta have your reciept!!!

If they do 7-day returns I'd make sure and get the details. I'm guessing it's just a max number of returns in a year which shouldn't be a problem for most. Otherwise, it would just end up being a free 7-day rental store as long as you keep the receipt, which I doubt is the case. If it is, I have a new rental store for games.

I asked in person last night; within 7 days and with the reciept they wil give full credit for used merchandise.

I can guarantee you a Nintendo system will never be not fun to play. The only misstep the company has ever had was Virtual Boy, which really wasn't even that bad.

i would say psp.
I've got one it rocks! The movie and game selection are not that great, but the multimedia capabilities more than make up for that.
