Drastic action needed on Ebola

From my knowledge none of the mistakes have come from the CDC proper, instead it has originated from the hospital staff itself.

I don't think that is correct. Most of these are CDC errors:

Here are some initial reports:

- the guy sought treatment, was given antibiotics, then released.
- EMT personnel that responded were not notified that they had contact with an Ebola patient
- the people that cleaned the vomit up had no protective equipment.
- it appears no one is keeping tabs on the guys family
- a kid that was supposed to be quarantined, went to school!
- flights are still coming in from Liberia and Sierra Leon
- reporters arriving from Liberia sought out screeners at the airport and told them they had been in contact with patients. They were allowed in without any follow-up questions.

As is this:

It is being reported this morning on the Today Show that they are sending people in today to clean and sanitize the appartment in Dallas.

This has been a disaster by the CDC. Why did it take several days to think it might be a good idea to sanitize that appartment?

And about the apartment, he must have contaminated everything he touched for days while he was there. What happened to all the trash that was presumably generated (snot rags, etc.)? Just taken out with the normal trash to be handled by the normal trash pickup? And what about dirty clothes he generated? Washed in the community laundry mat? And then, after it was known the guy had ebola, the apartment just sits there for days, a little mini hot zone. Do we know that no maitenance people went in there? That is directly on the CDC.

Reports are that people were scared to go clean that up. We have hazmat teams that can go into a potential anthrax scene but are scared to go into an apartment with Ebola that is supposedly hard to contract? Does something not seem to be a little off here?

Yes, a Hazmat team should have been sent there the day he was admitted to hospital.

The wife and I were talking this morning, if this can only be caught by body fluids the heath workers are dressing as if could be caught airborne .

We've witnessed Obama having the heads of different agencies and even the Secret Service downplay everything. Look at the whitehouse breach where we were told a man got to the front door, then we learned actually made it inside, then we learn he almost made it to the east room where he was stopped by an off duty agent. Who's to say the same thing isn't occurring right now with Ebola? Maybe they are aware that it could go airborne but don't won't the public to panic?

And the CDC just keeps at it: CDC chief on Ebola: We can

"Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Friday said restricting travel between the U.S. and West Africa would likely “backfire” and put Americans more at risk of contracting Ebola.

Appearing on MSNBC, Frieden was asked about potentially prohibiting air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, where the Ebola outbreak is most widespread. He said that such a restriction would likely be ineffective and would make it harder for health officials to root out the virus."

Are we to believe that these idiots can't draw a distinction between (a) allowing humanitarian aid into Africa, and (b) restricting commercial flights out of Africa? They are either completely incompetent or outright liars. Which is it?

Yes. More Obama lying.

Sigh.

And now they've let 5 local police officers enter the apartment hot zone.

Dallas Co. sheriff's officers entered quarantined apartment

It's a good thing the CDC has the apartment locked down, or it might have been even more officers.

EDIT:

And I just noticed this in the article:

"Dyer was one of the deputies on scene Wednesday night, but he did not go inside. He said the family of the Ebola victim told the deputies that went inside that they were running out of food.

"What kind of planning is that for the feds?" Dyer said. "You quarantine them, but you're not going to make sure they have food?"

It really is a comedy of errors.

EDIT 2:

"The deputies are expected to ‎return to work in a few days, Dyer said."

No quarantine for these fine folks.

It's almost like they want it to spread. Other countries have already shut down flights from Africa. But not us, it's like it would infringe on their civil liberties to deny possibly infectious people from roaming the country.

Future Dem voters looking for that Obamacare

Well, mystery solved. Now we know why they haven't cleaned the apartment:

"Brad Smith of the Cleaning Guys, which was hired to sanitize the apartment, said his company is ready to go but a permit issue has stopped them from entering the home. Smith says a specialized permit, which is handled by the state government, is needed to transport this type of unprecedented hazardous waste on Texas highways. Cleaning Guys specializes in hazmat and biohazard cleaning services, but it does not transport the materials."
