Bottom line is the media has gotten their teeth into it. It's everywhere which, I'm sure, is what the attorneys and anonymous claimants wanted. Folks can debate what did or did not happen and what the laws say, but these days, cases like this are tried in the court of public opinion. The accused are guilty until proven innocent. The "liability" will extend up the chain to involve as many as humanly possible and draw in the deepest pockets possible. They'll go back as far as possible and bring any incident they can into he picture no matter how ridiculous it may seem. Flood the media with alleged incident/information overload.
As much as settling will only serve to encourage more of the same, it's in UTs best interest to bite the bullet and get this over and done with ASAP. Frankly, given the idiocy of our PC culture of late, we might see another Donnie T/Bruce outcome and see Butch made a sacrificial goat if we aren't careful. And just as we get full swing into what is supposed to be a tremendous 2017 class. Incredible. Should just stay cupped up and expect crap like this.
Most of this case has seemed bungled up by the KPD, so I wouldn't be shocked. But does it not seem odd to you that (1) Bowles helped the victim, (2) Orta admitted that he and Maggitt, on separate occasions and in different locations, verbally assaulted Bowles regarding the matter, then (3) Bowles claims nothing happened
It just seems weird that they'd have a confession like that and do nothing with it.
If your friend came to you and told you that she was raped, do you think that you should be assaulted for helping her and taking her side?
Yep...listening to accusations of rape are left winged and politically motivated. You hear that all you Obama-loving rape victims!!! How dare you let yourself be forced upon by someone twice your size to further the Democrats hopes for higher office. How selfish.
Some people are unbelievable.
I think people must be very careful with such cases. Rape is a very serious and damaging crime. False allegations of rape are also serious and damaging. Bowles seems to be a decent man trying to do the best he can in a difficult situation. If the girl played him, that will come out in trial.
This X 100000000
Once the accusation is made lives are ruined regardless of the outcome in court.
What I don't understand is why these girls are moving forward with the lawsuit before criminal court has even started? Can someone please answer that?
The rights of all parties must be upheld if justice is to be served. I think we can agree that all those accused of crimes should get a fair an impartial trial whether the crime alleged was two years ago or two weeks ago.
Further, these delays are really violations of the 6th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (see below). In this case, at least, the defendants are not incarcerated while waiting, but many innocent defendants spend years in jail awaiting trial in this country.
Amendment VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
I would not be surprised to see a couple of these women bail on the suit before they do a deposition. That will not be any fun I can promise you.
I've seen rumors on here about the whole situation ragarding the accuser texting AJ in a flirtatious manner. If true, can't this be used against to accusers?
If AJ is guilty then shame on him and justice be served, but these allegations just seem like a dream with no definitive story or proof.
Prolly same time Jones punched Crowder. Now Chattanooga Free Press has an article asking if coaches maybe ordered Bowles to be beaten- are you freaking kidding me? These accusations are getting close to defamatory. It is ridiculous to believe that players probably didn't retaliate on him, but I would come closer to believe what Basilio said that morning that Butch called a meeting that he was protecting Bowles and anyone would be dealt with that ignored that- which would explain his time away from the team. To believe anything else is just ridiculous. I wish the media would pick up on that story instead of their TMZ level reporting.
