Perhaps it might be best for you to know the basic facts of this situation before weighing in.

Drae has nothing to do with this lawsuit. He's not a plaintiff.

That would require not only reading comprehension but an applicable moral compass. Might be asking a bit too much in this case.

Bottom line is the media has gotten their teeth into it. It's everywhere which, I'm sure, is what the attorneys and anonymous claimants wanted. Folks can debate what did or did not happen and what the laws say, but these days, cases like this are tried in the court of public opinion. The accused are guilty until proven innocent. The "liability" will extend up the chain to involve as many as humanly possible and draw in the deepest pockets possible. They'll go back as far as possible and bring any incident they can into he picture no matter how ridiculous it may seem. Flood the media with alleged incident/information overload.

As much as settling will only serve to encourage more of the same, it's in UTs best interest to bite the bullet and get this over and done with ASAP. Frankly, given the idiocy of our PC culture of late, we might see another Donnie T/Bruce outcome and see Butch made a sacrificial goat if we aren't careful. And just as we get full swing into what is supposed to be a tremendous 2017 class. Incredible. Should just stay cupped up and expect crap like this.

Donnie and Bruce actually did something against the rules.

Butch hasn't, very clearly.

Most of this case has seemed bungled up by the KPD, so I wouldn't be shocked. But does it not seem odd to you that (1) Bowles helped the victim, (2) Orta admitted that he and Maggitt, on separate occasions and in different locations, verbally assaulted Bowles regarding the matter, then (3) Bowles claims nothing happened

It just seems weird that they'd have a confession like that and do nothing with it.

I am from Drae's hometown. Of course that means nothing other than there are probably more rumors floating around here than here than there are there.

It seems pretty clear here that Drae provided guidance based on personal feelings and what he was being told at the time. It was his supposed girlfriend and that's really not hard to figure out. Why people keep insisting that it may not have been is beyond me but this was simply not an act of just a good guy helping out a friend in need. There was a personal connection that can't be ignored. He was probably confronted with info (the supposed texts) and it became a "bros before hoes" type scenario in the context of "why didn't you talk to us before her".

After seeing all this, of course he isn't gonna say he was assaulted. Hell, he probably didn't blame em. I think he just wanted to it to go away and get as far from it as he could.

I can tell you that all Drae ever wanted was to be a VOL. Lack of playing time was not gonna be a reason to leave. He's 3rd string @ UTC and caught 2 passes this year. Counting special teams, he played a whole lot more @ UT than he can ever expect @ UTC.

Given the climate these days, a perception of inaction or not doing enough can lead to change. You do watch the news right?

If your friend came to you and told you that she was raped, do you think that you should be assaulted for helping her and taking her side?

I think people must be very careful with such cases. Rape is a very serious and damaging crime. False allegations of rape are also serious and damaging. Bowles seems to be a decent man trying to do the best he can in a difficult situation. If the girl played him, that will come out in trial.

Yep...listening to accusations of rape are left winged and politically motivated. You hear that all you Obama-loving rape victims!!! How dare you let yourself be forced upon by someone twice your size to further the Democrats hopes for higher office. How selfish.

Some people are unbelievable.

Not equating the rape claims to the left wing. Just the pc culture and its exploitation.

Now Chattanooga Free Press has an article asking if coaches maybe ordered Bowles to be beaten- are you freaking kidding me? These accusations are getting close to defamatory. It is ridiculous to believe that players probably didn't retaliate on him, but I would come closer to believe what Basilio said that morning that Butch called a meeting that he was protecting Bowles and anyone would be dealt with that ignored that- which would explain his time away from the team. To believe anything else is just ridiculous. I wish the media would pick up on that story instead of their TMZ level reporting.

At the time this happened, Bowles himself said the assault never happened.

These women looking for a payday put it in their lawsuit, and it is going to backfire on them, just like saying 3rd down for what promotes sexual battery and the fact that in America you have the right to face your accuser makes a hearing unfair.

Using rediculous and untrue things in your lawsuit, and so many of them. Is only going to make any judge/jury not believe anything they say.

I truly believe these Nashville lawyers convinced these girls that UT will settle out of court just to avoid a trial. Because after reading the document, I do not see how any reasonable person can take them seriously.

Just like naming butch in the lawsuit..a coach who has immediately suspended any player accused, even a player like von who was never even charged. What else should/could CBJ do? Take off his belt and spank them?

I would not be surprised to see a couple of these women bail on the suit before they do a deposition. That will not be any fun I can promise you.

This X 100000000

Once the accusation is made lives are ruined regardless of the outcome in court.

What I don't understand is why these girls are moving forward with the lawsuit before criminal court has even started? Can someone please answer that?

If one of the players admitted to Police, that he had heard the team had a "hit" out on Bowles, and it is in the Police report, along with the other things admitted and recorded by the Knoxville Police, this suit has some real legs. Unless, some are claiming the KPD is also "in on it" as part of a grand scheme to "Shake down" UT. While almost anything is possible, it seems far fetched that part of the master plan, included some KPD officers, and some players having to admit to threatening Bowles, just to get this off the ground.
I realize we have some great story tellers, but this is going to require the king of story tellers to make this seem realistic.

The rights of all parties must be upheld if justice is to be served. I think we can agree that all those accused of crimes should get a fair an impartial trial whether the crime alleged was two years ago or two weeks ago.

Further, these delays are really violations of the 6th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (see below). In this case, at least, the defendants are not incarcerated while waiting, but many innocent defendants spend years in jail awaiting trial in this country.

Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Are you a lawyer?

Which came after he wasn't charged, AJ and Williams have been charged but not convicted. Kind of cart before the horse, I just wonder if UT settles before AJ's court date how it may affect his case?

I would not be surprised if more women join the suit, both current and past students. I'm not saying it will happen, but rather, I would not be surprised.

Some of the homo sexual players raped me...where my money? I will settle out of court for a new car.

I've seen rumors on here about the whole situation ragarding the accuser texting AJ in a flirtatious manner. If true, can't this be used against to accusers?

If AJ is guilty then shame on him and justice be served, but these allegations just seem like a dream with no definitive story or proof.

My friend was literally at the party and said the girl was all up on him all night. I think all of this is some messed up bull crap.
