Down to 14 Recruits

Cam Patrick gone to juco because he had no GPA, keep up people!

If you can't make grades at Lenoir City as a star athlete (please don't pretend they don't get the benefit of the doubt), then you have absolutely no drive to be a successful human being. Hope he turns it around, but it's not like high schools are trying to keep kids on the tax payers' pay roll. I hope he gets his head out of his rear-end, and takes advantage of a college scholarship. Don't be like Travis Cozart. Serious.

I think Kerbyson will be alright. He should get some more minutes as a RS Sophomore and then really come into his own his junior year.

Don't be surprised if Smith & Hill leave either before or after Spring Practice.

Especially if we get Green or another 4-star back. I think D. Young & Watson could flourish in CBJ offense.

No new coach would yank scholarships??

If that is our statement you are far from correct. Coaches is all sports clean house when they first get jobs to make sure there is room for their guys.

If you're saying they come in and actually tell a kid "You no longer had a scholarship here" or "You're no longer on this team" or something to that effect, you're simply misinformed.

The only way coaches will "clean house" in terms of players is by running the team ragged in hopes of forcing the weak to quit.

I guarantee you, if Palardy is not a Vol next season, it will be because he chose to leave, not because Butch took his scholly. Coming in and summarily yanking scholarships from kids is a PR nightmare, and is undoubtedly the exception as opposed to the rule.

That would also equal the amount of national championships they claim. Im sure win or lose, they will claim at least a share of the Shoney's/Waffle House 2012 National Championship presented by Big Lots.

So true....and they'll take it on the grand tour and show it off at every walmart.

It's too late to have a big class for 2013, will have to see what we can get for 2014. CBJ will just have to work with what he has and gets.:mf_surrender:

One thing that apr has done it has made schools work hard to find other fits for kids when they leave. Apr takes a much lighter hit if the kid that leaves attends another 4 year school. That's why schools are helping push their kids to other institution so that their apr score is effected very much.

That is true which [proves your original statement is inaccurate again. They don't yank scholarships. That is just simply false. But your are right on the shaded side of the business. :hi:

That's exactly what will happen if those same kids aren't getting the hint of being run off as you suggest. Lets just see how many over 85 we are after signing day and you will see there is no other option than just that.

As for palardy I have never suggested he won't be here. I have only stated that players will be run off or have their scholarships revoked.

Coaches want 2 things with those kids that don't fit.

1) a freed up scholarship and that is most important to the coaches. Pulling the scholarship/ yanking the scholarship/ not renewing the scholarship/ making that scholarship disappear/running a kid off any damn way you want to call it that's the most important thing to coaches.

2) lessening the hit to apr. by helping a kid find another 4 year school that lightens the NCAA hammer on apr.

Number 1 is most important and the main objective for coaches. If they can achieve number 2 in the process great but that doesn't always happen.

Matt Milton receiver from Illinois left last season during Christmas break. Arnett receiver from Michigan left last season during Christmas break.

I have a feeling that O Brien will leave. He did not play this season and most of the players from the north never work out. Arnett, Milton, Henderson, lineman from Wisconsin, Sattelle lineman from Illinois, etc. etc.

I hope you are wrong about O'Brien. He would be foolish to leave since there will be so many senior d-linemen.

I agree. People need to give the guy a break. He's only been on the team a short time. Most players not named Tiny would have trouble beating out the current starters. We will need him down the road.

Wait..doesn't the world end this weekend? Who cares then! But if it doesnt, I say we pick up about 47 new players.

BJ is obviously hot on the recruits and is doing a great job IMO. Some of the players leaving may not fit his system, and some that he is bringing in fit his system better than others. That is one reason he is able to steal some of these recruits. No worries, he and his staff are doing well.

I hope you are right. All I have seen so far is one average safety that has committed and a bunch of offers going out to the same level. Can't count Green and North since Graham already had worked those guys before Jones arrived.

I think this class will be fine...we need to let CBJ and staff do what they do (win) and the recruiting will get better and better. Im also willing to bet that this class will be stronger than it would have been if El Dooley was still in control.

For those who want to see winning instead of talking, I completely agree. However, this "talk" and "press" we have seen in the past two weeks is much more abundant, positive, and encouraging than anything I've seen in years. For this reason, I am willing to buy into the hype (I even created me a first time account on this forum after following it for years because I am pumped about UT Football).

I'm on board with this post, so I'll pop your "likes" cherry. I feel an enthusiasm for Tennessee football I haven't felt since I was a student (Fulmer era)
