Down goes #1...

Take the names away. Team A has 2 losses, both to top 5 teams. Team B has 3, (1 to an unranked team, another to a school Team A beat), and lost their best player maybe for the year.

ESPN will prob. make some new kind of poll where Duke is ranked ZERO which is above #1 in the rankings because someone gets hurt in their losses and they feel they wouldn’t lose those games with the injuries.

Just posted this in another thread:

Duke obviously not #1. You can't logically put any other team other than Tennessee back at #1, especially if they get a quality win Saturday in Baton Rouge.

I'm genuinely interested in hearing legitimate arguments as to why UVA, Gonzaga, or UK would be more deserving to take their place.
Well, the obvious being that Kentucky just jumped us, and without losing, it would seem difficult to imagine that a week later voters will suddenly change their mind on that idea.

ESPN has shown more footage of Zion's shoe falling apart than highlights of TN over the entire 3 weeks that they were #1.

It sucks that he went down , because it gave the media an excuse to excuse them getting blown out. It would have been closer no doubt, but I still think Duke would have lost with him or not.

First off Duke without Zion is not very good. UNC didn't even play that well. Their best freshman had 2 points, their second best freshman went 3/14 from the floor. UNC shot 2/20 from 3, a brutal 10%, while also being on the road and still won by 16. Duke just can't shoot 3s, that's been pretty consistent all year. That's why Syracuse beat them last time, and probably will do it again Saturday at Syracuse. Either way, if we beat LSU and Kentucky. we should be sitting right back at #1 come that following Monday.

if we take care of business on Saturday we will hold in the top 5 at least. And I see Duke losing to Syracuse...they lost a lot of wind in their sails last night. that being said we have to win! At least we held the top spot for month....duke had it for a technically 2 days!!

I’d be willing to bet no matter what happens the rest of the season, Zion Williamson will be the first player drafted this year.
Your probably right, but I just don't seem him being all that great in the NBA. I think his two teammates, Barrett and Reddish would be better pros

Williamson has the potential to be a great NBA player but he has a lot of work to do.

Needs to shed about 25 pounds and develop a descent jump shot.

It's getting crowded at the top, but I'd say ZAGA (haven't lost in awhile), UVA (top notch conference play with only 2 losses to Duke). UT would have better argument if we didn't get beat like a rented mule by KY...if that game was close, we wouldn't have dropped like we did. Don't see any argument for UT to jump back up to #1, and probably won't be rest of season unless we win it all. At end of the day, we just need that 1 seed. We just need to take care of ourselves.

If I'm Zion, the next basketball game I play in will be as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies...

This right here, if it's just a sprain or something like that I bet his parents sit him. I would if my son was a top pick in the draft. I wouldn't take any chances.

Well I don't think UVA should be #1, they just seem like a team that could fold at any minute. UK while hot, and put a whoopin on us, I'd still like to see a bit more from them, plus they have too many loses if you ask me.

Now Gonzaga on the other hand, they've been consistent all year long. They're good offensively and defensively. They're a more complete team I think than the other two, hell they're probably a more complete team than us. Yes I know we beat them, but overall as a team they just look better.

if I were ranking the top five I'd go like this.

1. Gonzaga
2. UVA
3. UK
4. UT
5. Nevada

I'd drop Duke to sixth cause they apparently are a completely different team without Zion. That can't be overlooked. Plus I think UK and UVA could be swapped, I see no real difference between the two.

I'm thinking you "may" want to find a different #5 as Nevada lost last night.

Duke will never drop to 5 or even 6 (without another loss).

If you look at the NET rankings, they didn't drop from 1 after their loss...My proposition at this point is that if Zion is going to come back in less than 2 weeks, they'l stay #1, and if Zion is out for the year, they'll drop to 3 or 4, but will eventually lose again this year (maybe this weekend), and naturally drop down to 5 or below only at that point.
