Total shot attemps UT 55. MU 53
Total Free Throw attempts UT 26. MU. 9

- Mac quietly got 14 points, more than it appeared to me, but went 0-6 on threes
- When we push it inside out, good things happen including going to the line for chance at "free" points
-UT took more quality shots, with a few unwise 3s
-Without the offensive rebound put backs or Free Throws the game would be very close.
-I did not look at turn over ratios might be interesting stat also.

good things happen when you attack the rim and UT is shooting almost 83% from the line. We need to work to get there against UM

Don't remember exact TO ratio to points but something like 12-15 points. We kilt 'em.:yahoo:

My biggest concern is foul trouble for any of our starting 5 (especially Stokes). The quick whistles in the second half last night makes me realize the refs could play a HUGE part in the game if they decide to call it tight.

it was definitely like they had a different crew working the 2nd half

Another important stat that made a huge difference was 41-19 rebounding advantage. Hell, Stokes by himself almost outrebounded the entire Mercer team.

Stokes played like a beast both games in Raleigh. Good to see Richardson step up and score when McRae struggled a little to find the scoring touch.

Richardson / McRae combined - behind the arc 2/12, inside the arc 11/13. Doesn't take a Rhodes scholar to understand those numbers.

A concerning yet interesting stat is that Pops Njaiofdjfaidosaye had all of our bench points with 2.

I am not even going to attempt to spell his name right...

This is the same thing we have done during this stretch.

Play defense
Make FTs
Take care of the ball
Rebound the ball on both ends

You do those things and you very rarely are going to lose. I still think you could see a break out game where we do those things AND catch fire from 3. It's been a long time since as a team we shot better than 33% from deep, 8 games to be exact in a row where we've been under 33%. I'm hoping it happens before it's too late though!

Yep.

The combination of Barton hitting at least 3-4 treys, Richardson's defense and mid-range jumpers, McRae slashing at the rim and hitting a few 3s, Stokes dominating the glass and getting fouled, and Maymon's solid 10 pts a game is nearly impossible to stop.

That said, I don't believe that all 5 starters have excelled in the same game in this tournament yet. McRae wasn't his usual self yesterday against Mercer, although Barton more than made up for it.

I don't know that it'll happen, but I hope they fire on all cylinders just once before this tourney is over.
