Marijuana is legal in Cali. I am sure Kiffin uses this to recruit players. Hopefully, the NCAA realizes that SC, UCLA, Oregon, and Colorado has an unfair advantage in recruiting players like Douglas.

There are more 5* recruits that don't become Freshman All-American's than do.

The number of Freshman that can start in the SEC at Right Tackle are even fewer.

Only a fool would give a scholarship to a lineman in High School over Douglas based solely on talent. Kiffin is no fool.

I would agree with you if both Martin and Walls weren't standing on the sidelines for the entire season.

At this juncture, I'd say our DL has more needs than the OL. That being the case, I'd call it a wash.

In terms of pure player ability/potential, Douglas might have more upside, but Jackson has experience and he looks really physical. With a little more strength/weight, I think he'll be a beast. Wiley will get every bit of potential out of him IMO.

USC can use a freshman all-American just like anyone else. And no one said that they were going to give him a scholarship -- his family may pay his way.

His mom and dad should be so proud. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

You do realize our o-line had two former walk-ons at 265 lbs working the middle of the line last year. It wasn't exactly like he was on a spectacular unit.

Did anyone else notice the discussion about the freshman being punished -- Markeith Ambles....wasn't he one of the guys who committed to UT and got pulled to USC by Orgeron's phone calls? UT would have been gangster land with these guys handing around Knoxville this year with the likes of Nu'Keese and Myles. Really nice group of guys.

Can't wait to see you explain how the Sullins brothers playing guard and center is any more relevant to how Douglas played at tackle than the various stiffs, walk ons, and neophytes playing linebacker had anything to do with Dan Williams' season.

LOL, I like how you're spinning that.. "Started in the SEC as a freshman".. If he started for a top-tier SEC team, maybe your logic carries more weight..
Starting on a mediocre OL for a mediocre team alongside 2 undersized walk-ons ?? Maybe he would have gotten that opportunity at FLA or ALA etc., but maybe not.

One other clarification: AD was a red**** frosh, MJ was a true soph. Both class of '08.

There are still a few among you (although getting fewer) who think the kiffin hire was a good idea, except for the unfortunate event of pete carroll leaving usc.

Pete carroll leaving usc was the best thing that could have happened for the future of tennessee football

The logic goes like this:

Your reasoning behind the fact that AD has better "trade value" is because he "STARTED" in the SEC, whereas MJ wasn't a starter @ USC. That was your original statement, correct?

Your logic is iffy because if AD had been on a topflight SEC team, he most likely would NOT have been a starter. THe only reason they moved him from TE to OL is because of need and how ridiculously undermanned we weere on the OL last year.

With your example of DW vs. LBs, you're comparing apples to oranges. AD vs. Sullins bros is apples to apples b/c they're part of the same UNIT.

I'm not saying MJ is better than AD - just that your logic in your initial statement is a little suspect.

Read a little more into the article and you will see that their kickers missed three extra points and a field goal. Special teams just aren't his specialty, lol.

Yeah, his first class was outstanding. Big time players that are head cases.

Second class full of commits who have serious trouble getting in school.

Didn't address needs and has the ncaa knocking on the door after 1 year.

Lane was building a juggernaut, I tell you.
