Last I heard his ratings average like 6 people a week. And those 6 are likely just all of his radios at home being turned on. Trying to boost his numbers a bit ya know. But seriously...I’m sure he gave absolutely nothing because for one he knows nothing. And for 2...he’s fulmer’s ride or die. He’s his boo. He’s his shorty.

Dougs ratings would be higher if he allowed a few calls. His opinion only does get boring.

I like Bill Justus, another great guy I’ve met, talking Vol bb.

Lol! I'd rather hear Rick Barnes needle Bob Kesling for the whole show than to hear one more caller on Vol Calls question the head football coach. We can get JV experienced football expertise right here! No need to drag down the sponsors with the idiocy we listen to every week already. Or tune in the Finebaum and get idiots from across the league.

A graduate student in communications should go through every tape over the past 50 years of pregames, press conferences and radio call in shows and rank the top 20 most asked questions. I'd lay money on "John, why don't we throw to the tight end more?" Not sure if the same guy called this in every week for 2 or 3 decades or what, but it was a running joke back in the day as to when the same question would come up on this week's show. Should have been a drinking game.....

I’d go with Barnes playing “smartest guy in the room” about 3 minutes. I think there are some good callers to Hyams/Irwin show during FB season. I haven’t listened to Vol Calls in 20+ years.

Doug Matthew’s is a wonderful man that is kind, genuine and loves Tennessee.
The hate on this board is unanimous on everyone who is posted about on all Tennessee sites. On the board now the hate is for Doug, John Majors, Fulmer, Tee Martin, Dan Mullen, Jeremy Pruitt... it doesn’t matter. Hate em’ all, Fahr em’ all.

Personally I don’t hate the guy at all. He just brings absolutely nothing at all to the table. I actually listened to part of his show after the auburn game and it was bizarre. He was saying that we’re getting better every week and that it was a much improved team etc. again...just bizarre. Where’s the passion? Where’s the outrage? He’s really similar to fulmer. Thu both talk alike and at about the same speed. Which is precisely why fulmer never ever should’ve been in the position he’s in
