Listening to his show on way to Starbucks. Damn he sure does hate hammy and love pf. At any rate, he said UT doesn't help out coaching staffs anymore by letting in academic exceptions. He stated that Fla, GA, bama etc do. Hadn't really heard this.

I think he was more focused on football, but you'd be right. You think that was the last exception under Hamilton?

We have bigger problems than not letting in enough dummies. With the new scholarship numbers all SEC coaches will have to be more selective.

I hear you, but what if Cam Newton was looking at UT, but he couldn't get in. Assuming no $ involved of course. Is that worth the risk?

They seem to let in plenty of academic risks. If Cam had wanted to take a pay cut, I'm fairly confident UT wouldn't have turned him away.

heard some of matthews too, don't get why they are lobbying so hard for the next ad to be a "Tennessee Guy" even if over a more qualified applicant....

The entrance requirements to TN are stiffer now than they were when Doug was coaching so it makes me wonder if there are really less exceptions or the same number of exceptions but more people are having issues.

I also was disapointed in the "Tennessee man/woman" speech. For a guy that is usually pretty logical, he did not make a very convincing argument as to why this was so critical.

Doug I know the show was only an hour this morning but you threw some heavy stuff out there without really backing it up.
