Is he still advocating to keep pruitt?

He will “explain” to us how UT played mistake free football and gave themselves a chance to win in the fourth quarter. Then, he will point to the fact that UT was down 16 players. Finally, he will analyze how Bailey missed a few throws that could have been the difference in the game. His listeners will be under the impression that UT was in a dogfight to the very end

These guys advocating keeping JP aren't doing him any favors. If I was in a position to influence the football caretakers, I would approach JP with the LSU, Les Miles scenario. Negotiate a buyout less than what UT owes. I think JP would take it.

You may be right. He often looks like he'd like to be somewhere else. He's not the same guy that kicked the whiteboard

UT was always just a chance for Pruitt to prove that he could be the HC at Alabama after Saban.

That dream is dead, and the only thing Pruitt has left to coach for is the paycheck, and that is obviously not enough motivation for him.

I think that's very highly probable. If we have to keep him and he's viewed as "lame duck status" (kinda like when Dooley couldn't get anyone to work for him and had to hire Sunseri) we may fall off a cliff. We'll see how he's perceived after the season...if assistants start jumping ship and what their replacements look like.

Serious question... What leverage would UT use to negotiate a sum lower than what Pruitt's legally binding contract states he will get?

I won't be surprised to see Ainsley go back to the NFL as a position coach, Chaney will just ride it out till retirement, and the rest of the staff is basically unemployable after the player regression over the last 3 seasons.

He seems not to mind losing, which indicates to me he has given up. The guy had never been a HC, at any level, until the UT job. I'm sure this is no fun for him, his family and for sure UT fans.

So what’s he saying?
He's gonna say something about looking inside the numbers, what we did wrong, what we did right and look into where we go from here. Same old garbage. Regurgitate some meaningless numbers from the stats and try to convince fans that there's a silver lining. Oh...and there's no way UT fill fire Pruitt this year so put that out of our heads. Of all the talk shows, I continue to scratch my head and wonder how the hell he stays on the air. Btw, he drives a ranger from mid 10 ford.

State run media always has a job...

Well, UT could say something like "we want you gone but we're not going to fire you. We can't. So you get to stay on national television making a fool of yourself until you quit or make an error so egregious that we get to fire you for cause. Either way you've damaged your brand irreparably. Or, you can walk away for 2 million dollars today and we will all be happier"

Nah, Butch and Dooley have shown him the way. He's gonna burn it all down in order to get fired. Outside of the two UT grads, there's nobody on this staff that will give up a single dollar. They'll scratch and claw at UT for every last penny.

yea Doug has lost me on Sundays, I hate the taste of BS

It used to be very interesting when UT was winning. Now, it’s like listening to Joseph Goebbels in 1945 minus the whole Nazi thing. I understand he has a job to do but acknowledging that this team is woefully underprepared isn’t a personal insult towards each player.

Good luck with that.. If it does happen, it won't be for $2M total.. That's laughable..

Well, dont think CJP has been discovered with any burner phones or cases of beer under his desk, so it would have to be something else....
