No roster that struggles with UMASS and gets manhandled by Vanderbilt is “loaded”.

We’re weak at QB, bad at TE, awful at TE, average at WR, and our OL is abysmal...we’re only very talented and deep at running back.

We’re bad and get physically beaten at DT and DE, we’re atrocious at CB, average at safety and generally bad at LB, although Sapp and Bituli have potential.

Stop with your ridiculous D4H routine, it’s not very becoming and it makes you sound like you have no earthly idea what you’re talking about.

I disagree with your assessment of our WRs. They have a chance to be special with the right WR coach. Beard has been pathetic, especially in the coaching of route running. Lots of little things can make a huge difference in WR play

I believe a great coach could immediately make this roster a respectable team. We are loaded with talent, we didn’t so much miss in the evaluation as we did in the development.

I agree pretty much 100% with what you are saying, seems the whole university can recruit good players, after that they seem ok with the product, whether it produces or stays the same o same o!

This team has very few SEC-level talented players you can win with in this conference. Kelly, Callaway, Smith, maybe Chandler and Johnson on offense. Gaulden, Warrior, maybe Bituli, maybe Sapp on defense.....that’s it.

It’s an awful team that was poorly coached, poorly developed, poor schemed. But a big element of this season's failures is the fact that the talent on this team is SEVERELY overrated. The unlucky guy who actually takes this crap job this week will have to all but completely turn this roster over as soon as possible and he better be a miracle worker with regards to changing a toxic culture.

I have been saying this for a long time. The soft culture ingrained in these players is going to be an impediment to overcome with any new coach.

The front 4 on D last night was torched again and again by Vandy simply running right at them. These were allegedly high star recruits when they arrived, but they were dead last in conference against the run. They aren't sec quality players and the proof has been on the field for everyone to see week end and week out. I'm not sure you rehabilitate them, although 3 of them will return for a senior season. A new coach will have to recruit over all our soft-as-Charmin linemen on both sides of the ball with the exception of Trey Smith on offense. Vanderbilt dominated the LOS and made it look easy.

Depends what you mean by “mulligan.” Does that mean that we endure a 5-7, followed by a 6-6, then in year three begin to see a slow climb of one more win per season? If that’s the case, I think we’ve seen enough evidence to the contrary that there are coaches out there capable of a much more rapid turnaround.

0-12 the year before he arrived
6-7 his first year
11-0 year two

And as some will point out, he's not accomplishing this feat in the SEC much less any P5 conference. He will need a mulligan, whomever it is.

We have recruiting work on QB, oline, and all over the defense. The players have given up pretty much but can you really blame them. A good coach can make a big difference by year two by looking at other programs in a similar situation. Please, please scrap both coordinators.
A new coach has nowhere to go but up, that’s for sure.

With each passing week Doug loses more credibility imo. He started the show by saying he was really gonna day some things, really get some things off his chest this morning, was no longer gonna hold/bite his tongue......and then pretty much said the same crap I’ve heard him say a dozen times. He was as meek as a church mouse when cryptically mentioning the Haslam family.

Also, when discussing the players that the next coach will have to work with....he said the linebackers are “great”, the DL is “really good, very talented and deep”, and that the OL has “plenty of players and he thinks the OL will be really good”. Wtf is he talking about?

It’s becoming useless to even listen to him anymore. He’s definitely lost his fastball. I don’t know what the hell hes looking at.

The truth is somewhere in between the Dobbs4Nationdom all-world talent assessment and the KB WTF State University talent assessment. With a non-toxic culture, actual player development, and excellent coaching we have plenty of players to complete. We certainly need more to win the East or a NC, but this isn’t a total disaster.

Hell, Kiffin had an OL anchored by the Sullins twins take AL to the wire in Tuscaloosa.

Actually, the most important key may be on campus now. I have seen indications that a few other teams at Tennessee are adding to their S&C programs. Perhaps to allow Gullickson to focus more on football I hope.

Some may hope the next coach replaces him. Why have a 4th S&C coach in 4 years? He hasn't been here a year yet. If this roster can be built into championship contenders, we need continuity in the weight room badly.

If new coach can get to 7 wins first year, I would say that's acceptable. Anything more or of equal value the 2nd year should as well
