Matthews said he thinks the Vols will..... or that they should..... missed that part... have more sets with both Hurd and Kamara in the backfield together without a TE in the game. He then added that they're getting mediocre blocking from the TE position with too many dropped balls..... then said they're basically getting no production at all from them. I have to agree

I said in another thread a few weeks ago that #82 is not giving us much in the way of blocking. I really think he has regressed this season.

Hyamms said he thinks Kamara will get the start and Hurd may just have 10-12 carries and him getting over the concussion.

I know that a player can get frustrated by lack of involvement in the passing game, which I have never thought the current staff utilized Wolf as much as they should. He just doesn't look like the same player he has been the past couple of years. I agree he has had a few drops this year, but when they make an effort to get him the ball, it pays off well.

In short, he just looks like he is going through the motions and lack of involvement will do that to a player. Either way, he needs to suck it up and play harder.

He had a drop right before Dobbs fumbled when hit by Garrett

I thought Croom would be a huge matchup problem and put up big numbers this year. Very disappointed in his production so far. Hopefully he can pick it up the second half of the season.

If they are not performing well enough to be a threat Id go 2 backs when Id normally be 1 and a TE. To date they are more a liability than a positive.

Guys, we have 5 freaking backs. Use them. I would rapid fire them so fast salami would think they were being hit by a gatling gun.

Exactly what I was thinking. You can play Hurd and Kamara with it's like having 1rb and 4 WRs or I RB 1te and 2 WRs Really tough for DC to decide how many DBs to play

Wolfe playing much worse than he did last year? Lots of drops. Wonder if he is hurt or if Scott is just a recruiter and not much of a tight end coach?

How many times were our TEs targeted against A&M? We don't throw to them very much at all. Get them involved.

I miss Ellis. That guy coukd clear a wide lane for Hurd and Kamara. And he had some huge receptions. Defenses seemed to overlook him. And DBs didn't much care to tackl him.

I heard him too, good summation. He sounded a little salty when he said that about the TEs....I couldn't agree more.

Normally I would agree wholeheartedly regarding getting them involved, but after how poorly they've played to date, I can maybe see why we haven't.

The TE coach that came from Miami and hooked Byrd for us...isn't he highly regarded as a position coach?

Yeah, Coach Scott is highly regarded....perhaps more as a recruiter than a position coach though. Maybe somebody else more in the know has some insight.

So you are basically saying Hurd is in fact a sort of TE now. Amazing that the prophecy is being fulfilled
Ha! Oh, boy! There's such a wealth of humor there because, comparing Hurd with the current TEs on the roster, he's the best blocker, receiver, runner-after-a-catch and he most certainly can read and react better than any of the TEs, as well. I never, never, ever thought I'd agree with anyone that Hurd would work out as a TE but...but...but...if I were Mike DeBord, I'd line him out there at least once or twice each offensive series and make those bammer LBs wet their jocks when he dashes into the heart of the defense. Whatta' concept! AMIRIGHT?
