Doug Matthews just reiterated...

Go ahead and start the thread.
No I think the possibility that Matthews is just a mouthpiece for the AD office has been speculated enough on here. I’m definitely willing to be wrong, but it’s one of the more peculiar coordinator searches I’ve ever seen. Maybe Matthews is right and JP just plays things that much closer to the vest than anyone else.

It is a secret no one will know who the OC is he will do wonders scoring points and all us fans will be saying if we only knew his name.

According to this article, Pruitt is doing like Propst's does by interviewing for future possibilities. I can see the logic and I hope that is the case. Maybe he does already have his man and is interviewing to see if in the future he might want to work with one of these guys. I'm afraid that since Propst's gave him an opportunity at Hoover that he may be returning the favor tomorrow after their state championship game today.

Pruitt's coaching search parallels Propst's interview process philosophy

I totally agree, if he does have someone, I believe it is propst

I believe you have a fairly narrow view of experience.

I think a coach who has been coaching HS football for 30-40 years and doing it very successfully would have quite a bit of experience that could be applied to the collegiate level. Leadership of any type is a people game. He could not win like he does if he was not skilled at relating to players and teaching the game.

I think CJP has been around a few good HCs. He has to have some idea what he's doing.

Surely a coach who was a face of the university athletic department for 17 years and worked directly for and with the AD would have a decent sense of the AD's role.

Yea, I wouldn't feel good about it. To be politely honest.

If true, I’m not sure why they can’t make it public. Every college and pro team in America has gone through coaching searches, and in a vast majority of the cases the deal is made public, and sometimes the coach sticks with the team, sometimes they leave immediately for the new job.

So I guess it’s possible that UT Is being this secretive outlier, or, Doug Matthews is just blowing hot air.

Why not do that to begin with.

Sorry. It has been discussed here ad nauseum that Fulmer and Matthews are tight and it’s possible that Matthews just carries water for the AD. If the search has stalled and Matthews is just toeing is the party line then he should be done in my opinion.

If I was being interviewed for a job opening and I thought, or found out later, that the company was interviewing me simply to get information, I would be hacked. I have a hard time believing the validity of that reporting.
Especially now that they have announced it to the whole world. "Hey, can you be here tomorrow at one o'clock? We're not considering you, just want to steal some info from you."

Fulmer and Matthews are tight. If the search has stalled and Matthews is wrong you re not gonna know unless Pruitt or Fulmer addresses that after the hire is made. And thats not gonna happen. At best your gonna get a bunch of speculation. So far that has had a lot of guys interviewed, some all but hired and no press release.

What would he be done from?

It's simple, it's not publicly announced because the contract isn't signed/finalized.

And speculation grows because of two main reasons
1. VolNation is a huge source of clickbait, media outlets prey on that
2. Current staff & AD don't release information until it's certain

We have some (a lot of) pretty ignorant fans. Hard to believe other fan bases are as ignorant as ours.

1. We've signed a 4* QB and have other offensive players we're close with. That doesn't happen if we don't have an OC to sale.

2. Seems obvious recruits are being told of our OC and new offensive philosophy.

3. Our new OC is obviously still coaching. Therefore the name is being held.

Take everything being told and read between the lines. Stop with the ignorant threads and posts.

SORRY 😁 I just had to vent.

Well if it’s ever proven that he knowingly gave out incorrect information then he ought to be done as a media entity.

And so would I, I would be very upset if I found this out.
Really? I've got better things to upset about I guess. If I interview really well it could pay off down the road. Or maybe they tell someone they know about me and I end up somewhere even better.

I'd be happy someone was interested in me.

Well when you’re done you might want to research the difference between “sell” and “sale”. Especially before throwing the word ignorant out at anyone else.

Gut feeling only but I think he will hire Probst. I’m not sure if he will be the OC or a CO-OC with Friend.
