The top is only the top when folks continue to fill Neyland for an average product. It want change. It want change. It want change.

Yeah, I want change too, but I'm not going to punish myself in the process.

CBJ is down but he's not out.

I would be willing to bet that 99% of this message board had never heard the name David Blackburn prior to this hire. Now if he isn't hired this board is screaming bloody murder and ready to lynch someone. Maybe he's the right one for the job, maybe he's not. But I highly doubt most on this message board have any clue at all who it should be. Pretty typical for this fickle bunch.

I'd say you're way off.

I love him in Chattanooga, but I'd be happier if he were in Knoxville. He's earned it.

This should have been the easiest hire in the history of college athletics. You have a VFL just down the road in Chattanooga who loves Tennessee and has the track record to prove he knows what he's doing.

But instead the good Ole boy network is in full play doing stupid s***. I love Coach Fulmer and believe he's a great man, but he shouldn't even be in the discussion.

David Blackburn should have already been hired. I'm to the point of almost of hoping he says no if they do ask just so the azz hats have egg on their face.

Ridiculous.

Agree but don't be willing to trade 5 seconds of gratification for 5 more years of suck.

That's somewhat true. Similar to general managers in the NFL you ll know who and more about the one running your team than others.

There are a ton of people at UT directly and indirectly that know him from his time there and at Chattanooga. The handful that I know in both groups think he's legit.

I'm more in the boat that if I don't know enough about a situation to form an opinion I'm gonna find someone who does before I have one.

Harbaugh doesn't have to look at a chart to know when to kick a field goal or ask an assistant coach to tell his DB's to turn around and look for a ball.

Harbaugh has gone 10-3 each of his first two years. Butch went 5-7 and 7-6. Jim also inherited a 5-7 team. I'd pay $9 million and go 10-3 for Butch's first two years after going 5-7. The future looks good for UM. We've hit our ceiling.

He just lost to Ohio St., Iowa and Florida St.

Who loses to Iowa? They are worse than Mizzu.

We have not hit out ceiling with Butch.

We're about to have a really bad athletic program across the board for the next decade or more!

I would take Harbaugh over Butch. He's a better football coach.

don't forget Butch lost to Vandy.

How could I forget? The worst thing to happen to the Vols in the past 3 years is the loss to Vandy.

I'm not sold on Harbough, Butch has so much room for improvement, Ole buger eater is like recycled trash, you can only do do much with it.

You're not going to get a 'big name coach" to come to UT offering midrange $s. UT fans squawk and cry over CBJ's $4 million only producing 9-4 now. Can you imagine if we had Harbaugh at $9 million per year and he goes 10-3?

Some of ya'll need to get real real about this big name coach and throwing chickenfeed at them and wanting their head on a pike afterwards. All of that works at cross purposes with each other if you haven't figured it out.
I'd be okay with $9 million for 10-3 last year if the 3 were Bama 2x and a nailbiter in the Sugar Bowl.

Not saying he isn't the best for the job. Maybe he is. I have no idea. He does seem to have done well up to this point. It's just that we have to same bunch on this board screaming about every situation when they have no clue. They just jump in the latest cause. Not referring to personally Volly. You bring good post.

Is it such a horrible thing for us to have 5 solid candidates for AD?

Blackburn
Fulmer
Davis
Battle
Manning

None of them could be the Home Run hire, but none I them would be a total bust either.

Battle just retired from Bama because hes got cancer and hes in his mid 70s. Dont think he would be on the list.
