With injuries 5-7 and without 7-5. Heck even hat went with 6-6 I think.

This is what I feel as well....the team has no real depth at most positions. Staying healthy, they will make a bowl game.

I think we are lucky and will need some good breaks to win 6 games. I say somewhere between 4-6 games. Painful as it is, that's what we're looking at this year.

My blood has run orange for well over 40 years now. Some of my fondest football memories have come when nobody gave us a chance. I look for that trend to continue. I am not being unrealistic and saying we are going to have a great season, but somewhere along the line, we are going to punch somebody in the mouth when they least expect it. I have been saying all along, this team is short on depth and experience, but it is not short on raw talent.

great post. one of the better teams may very well overlook UT and get suprised. not very likely, but could happen.

I was listening to 104.5 today and Doug Mathews seems to think that we will win 4 games at most this year and he said DD would win coach of the year if we win 6 games. He's entitled to his opinion, but I honestly believe that Doug has no clue and is still butt hurt over Fulmer's departure. Never been a big fan of Doug's and their is a reason why he hasn't coached in a while. With all that being said, i guarantee we will win at least 6 games. Go Vols!!!

if we only win 4 games dooley and hammy will be looking for employment else where

People really need to look at this depth chart.... we are in bad shape right now.

We do have some talent but that talent is mostly young and untested. Also what is the biggest concern is the lack of depth and experience at the line of scrimmage. Make no mistake that is what separates the SEC from the pack. The line of scrimmage. And we have some work to do there. That coupled with no depth on either line is a recipe for disaster. These guys have to stay healthy and they have to keep showing improvement.

If they do that. We can win 6 games maybe with a little luck 7. But the reality is if we have some injuries at OL or DL. We are in big trouble.

I don't have to high hopes for this year. I am just going to try to stay positive as the year goes along. I think Dooley is the right guy at the right time for this job. And I think in time we will be please with the product he puts on the field. But it will take time. I will be there for them all win or lose. But this year doesn't look good at all..... IMO....

I think most of the fans understand the situation. I do think the media is trying to dumb down are expectations though. They don't know anymore than us. They can't watch practice. 6-6 if no major injuries occur is very likely.

I agree with you except for the win/loss count. I unfortunately am not quite that optimistic. I'm thinking 5 wins max is about the best we can expect, maybe 4 if things really fall apart and we suffer injuries. If we go to a bowl game, that would REALLY be something to celebrate this year. Next year, expectations get much higher.

I don't expect 6 or 7 wins.

I said if everyone stays healthy and we keep showing improvement at the line of scrimmage. We have a chance. I don't think anyone can expect to not at least lose a linemen or two during the course of the year. Also alot depends on the two's.... guys like Stone, Fulton, Pair, Bowens, Thomas, Sykes, those guys have to continue to improve for us to have any type of a chance for success.

I expect at least 5 wins. I don't honestly know if that is realistic. But I guess I refuse to believe we can't get at least 5.

I am also putting alot of confidence in Chaney as a coordinator as well as Wilcox. I think Chaney could shine with the talent we have receiver. I also think Wilcox is an excellent coach. So I think we will be prepared and have a good scheme in place to win games. But it all goes back to the line of scrimmage. If we can't at the very least be average. We will get eaten alive in this conference.

One thing that concerns me is that the ranks may be depleted before we get to the part of the schedule where we should get our easiest wins. It could come down to those last 4 games that we need to win to get us to 6 and to a bowl. We need a bowl to get the extra practice time for the young team.

he has a depleted team and as a head coach hasn't set the world on fire 4 wins is about on par with talent and coaching. Might as well be relegated to second class status that is where we unfortunately belong.

Thats atleast 6 wins..then throw in a upset of Uga or the cocks = 7-5

How many practices or scrimmages has Matthews seen from his perch in Nashville? He simply espouses the same ole same ole recipe for disaster: new coach, attrition, talent level just isn't there blah blah. The best part of his Saturday show is Charles Davis.
