On 104.5 the zone Coach Mathews is railing against the coaching staff. It's aimed at Butch. He is absolutely destroying the coaching staff along with Kippy Brown very critical of coaching.

.....still should've hired Kippy after Kiffin until they found the right guy....

Kippy wasn't the answer either. We had an opportunity to hire Cut, and Hamilton wouldn't let him bring his guys in. Cut would have had us competing again, IMO.

Butch is a decent guy who dug us out of the dumpster we were in after Dooley. He has been a solid, but not fantastic, recruiter who has built up the roster to respectable levels. BUT, he is not a SEC level coach when all is said and done. His offense is only successful against slow, undisciplined defenses. His ability to play down to the competition is frustrating and always finds a way to lose one he shouldn't. He has reached his ceiling here and it's time to go, but don't know if that will be as soon as we all want due to his buyout, etc..

What in particular is he attacking?

Not targeting Jennings near enough. Putting DBs on an island when the coaches know they cannot cover.

Linebackers and DBs not being developed.

Throwing seem route way too much when Dobbs gets many of those picked off.

Not good play calling.

These were a few things he mentioned.

Kippy should have been named interim coach for the year while we searched for a quality winner instead of settling for Dooley. Everyone was afraid of "losing a year" and instead we lost 8

Give us some details of CDM's rant. I'd love to hear what he has to say

Everything! And he's 1000% right.

Last question he said that Jones now has to ask......"if you're playing hard, which we are, and you're more talented than the other team, which we were than SCar....then why are you not wining the game?" In other words, it's coaching, it's scheme and it's an overall poor job by the head coach.

He's ripped the offensive play calling (among other things, asked if Butch has the right offensive playcaller to win at a high level), he's ripped the defensive play calling (why are we trying to play Press man coverage when we clearly aren't good at all playing that coverage), he's ripped the team's lack of discipline and he's ripped Butch and Debord for refusing to use their weapons to try and win games, primarily Jennings.

He hit all the high points and he was 100% spot on.

Well said.

Regarding the buyout, when your major booster is replacing his own head coach every year it will be difficult to buyout Butch's contract. That and the new AD coming in will want his stamp on the hire.

Coach Cut did not want the Tennessee job. That is widely known.

You'd be wrong on that. Hamilton blocked Cut on bringing his guys with him from Duke. If Hamilton would have let Cut do what he wanted, he would have been here. Hamilton was trying to force Cut to keep assistants from Kiffin's staff.

Mainly the play calling.....not getting the ball in your best players hands. Sounded like he was obliterating Mike Debord but he doesn't call people out by their name which is appropriate and professional. But you could tell by the tone that it was aimed at Butch Jones since he is the head coach and he was attacking more of the schematics of the system as a whole versus just the nonsensical play-calling.

He also went after Bob Shoop with the coverages that he calls. When he evaluates the coaching as an Old Coach himself, that Tennessee doesn't play certain coverages well at all and Bob Shoop continues to put them in those coverage packages

In a nutshell he said the coaching is crap they don't seem to know what they are doing and they aren't getting the ball in the best player's hands. They arent getting the best players on offense or defense in the right position for them to make plays

The worst part is everyone sees the problems but the ones who can make the necessary changes do not care as much as we (the fans)do. That is exactly why we hear the excuse "Not going to pay the buyout" but will pay for multi million dollar renovation . Which is going to add more Luxury suites. They do not care what we think. They know no matter what we are loyal to the Vols and will keep coming.
the common Vols fan has no voice and it sucks that we have to be ok with whatever the higher ups shove down our throats.
