Nobody is really talking about this much but I noticed that when I was at the SC game. Our WRs seem to really have problems separating after they get jammed and, for lack of a better term, don’t seem to play with much “suddenness”.
- There WILL be an immediate change at QB. Number 15 most likely. (Why do you think it will be Bailey and not Shrout?)
- CJP is still the right guy, rebuilding a program is tough in this league.(Why are we still rebuilding at this point, 3rd year/3rd recruiting class, has not come close to beating any of UTs biggest rivals, consistantly outcoached in 2nd half of games, why is he the guy?)
- Our Defense is improving, even though we can't cover the slant.( Giving up a ton of points, offense hasnt helped them any, no pressure on Qbs or push from defensive line,)
- Young players in the waning moments of the KY game showed some promise.(sit the upperclassmen and start all young players, lets start rebuilding on the rebuild)
- Only 3 out of 4 drives of significance for us in the second half. Offense couldn't deliver.(last 6 quarters of UT football, change at QB wont change that much if any)
- Pruitt's Sunday will be spent with Offensive staff. (doesnt matter)
- Receivers can't get any separation and haven't all season.(undeveloped and no sense of urgency)
- Inability to deliver splash plays (down the field) makes life easy for other teams DC.(when UT lines up on offense, it makes it easy on other teams DCs)
- Dumb penalties.. lack of discipline.(this is the true testament of a poorly coached team!)
- To early to give up. Last 5 games will tell the tale of the season. (seasons done, lets rebuild on the rebuild, that should show the SEC that UT means it this time)
Feel free to add to this list. This is just off the top of my head after listening to the show.
So not only are the QBs bad but we have WRs that cannot get separation. Great. Grand. Thats been a problem dating back to Botch Jones. Well if we dont have veteran WRs that can get separation then throw the young guys out there. Beckwith, Wideman, Hyatt, Holliday, Calloway. Just play these freaking guys already.
Matthews said after uga game....and I agree with him ...you have to either have wideouts like jennings who are just big and strong and push there way through or go have to have alot of speed to get by and separate. Besides palmer none of the others can which leads me to say put freshman out there they have the speed to
That’s my biggest fear to. So Pruitt can have his, told ya so, moment.
Seriously.... they threw BM to the wolves last season....
Add dumb turnovers.

There's also the possibility he plays well (even in a losing effort), gains experience and confidence that then turns the season around after the open week.If they throw Bailey out there vs Bama with his limited reps/experience, I'll be disappointed. Not fair to the kid and you risk nuking his confidence.
I'm not saying he hasn't done a good job, but their 2 wins have been against 2 other rebuilding jobs. The win over MSU was impressive at the time, now less so. And Ole Miss is an extra point away from 0-4.

Those are hardly games to write off, sure we need to play better but Florida's defense isn't all that and A@M is up and down. Auburn doesn't have a qb either. Arkansas is tough and we will have to improve greatly on offense to beat them but they are hardly write offs. We need to put in the other qb's and lean on the run and work the pass in and build on that. Our defense will keep us in most games if the offense doesn't gift wrap pick 6's and go 3 and out left and right. Move the ball some and don't turn it over and turn field position. We will bounce back, everyone was hollering last year but we finally settled down. And so far in the sec besides alabama and georgia has had moments where they didn't look good. As much as I am concerned with our qb play, I am not throwing in the towel on our games or season. Lots of football to be played. GBO!Might as well right off Florida and Texas A&M as well. No way Tennessee beats either of those teams unless they change dramatically. We likely won't beat Arkansas either.
Hyatt was wide open down the seam on one of the interception passes JG threw to the checkdown. Literally had beat both safeties all JG had to do was lob it up and let Hyatt run under it and it was a TD.....So not only are the QBs bad but we have WRs that cannot get separation. Great. Grand. Why cant we adjust for the slant?
Bama will run it 50 times when they see filmOur DBs / LBs aren’t playing it right. Our DBs are so used to playing on the hip of the wide receivers that they don’t take away their inside and give them a free release.
Our LBs get too caught up either dropping too deep or looking for the run and the slant goes right under and by them.
It’s their bread and butter play. I am sure the staff is already planning against it. But, still one of their quick receivers gets one of those slants and we don’t have anyone that can catch them on the field.
I don't think HB would have his confidence "nuked", especially if we keep the ball on the ground. HB seems to be a well-adjusted and mature kid. I think he could handle it.
