It’s this desperation bottom-feeding mentality of our FB Admin and fan base that’s sunk us in failed HC search after failed search.

We hire a crap HC who divides our fan base as we hold on for dear life as he drives us even farther into the ditch until he finally taps out then we’re stuck with a huge buyout and whatever list of HC candidate hopefuls and wannabes are available atm.

We’re mired in a hiring / firing death spiral of our own making. So it’s time to break the cycle.

We need to take a big moment and understand that ALL of our problems can be solved by proactively targeting a proven winning A-LIST P5 HC. No more projects, retreads, on the job learners, coordinators or P5 B and C listers like Jones or Kiffin.

TWO solid gold proven A-list HCs just happen to be available right now: Meyer and Stoops.

So what are we waiting for? Start back channel discussions and back up the Brinks truck. Don’t take no for an answer. Or mothball the football program.

And spare me the usual circular arguments of UT is broke and/or no good HC wants to come here or Meyer is a pos etc etc “I’ll hang up and listen”.

Saban is a pos but Bama went after him and got him bc their storied program became a dumpster fire and it just so happens Saban was eager to get out of Miami and the NFL. So knowing they needed a proven SEC HC to fix their mess Bama made Saban an offer he couldn’t refuse. Not bc they interviewed him along with 15 other HC hopefuls as part of an “extensive search”.

Time to stop treating our storied FB program as an experimental laboratory.
That is exactly what a competent AD, say Foley at UF, would do. Unfortunately, i’m not sure what’s less likely, Meyer wanting to come here or Phil being humble enough to approach the guy that spanked his ass repeatedly.

You mean like Saban and Spurrier were?

Saban and Spurrier had .500 records in college? That's weird. I could have sworn they both had national championships under their belts before leaving for the NFL. Or maybe I'm remembering correctly, and you didn't read the entire post (all one sentence of it) before replying.

This is every coaches dream jog; even if they suck, we’ll fire them and they’ll still make more money than I’ll ever see in buyouts. #vent

Who wouldn't want a failed NFL coach with a .500 record in college?
Nick Saban failed miserably in the NFL and we all know what happened after that. And don’t forget about Saban’s years at Michigan State where he was an average coach.

That's at least the third person who couldn't be bothered to read all the way thru a one sentence post before replying.

No one in their right mind actually believes CJP will be fired and these threads about other coaches coming here are a waste of cyberspace. For those of you that want him fired, you should be prepared to be wishing for it for another year or two. By that time he'll either have it turned around and headed up or we'll know for certain he's not the guy. As it stands, there is little evidence one way or the other with the roster we have, especially at QB.

Well Pete Carroll did ok at uscw. Of course he got them on probation by ncaa. Bill Belichick didn’t have a good coaching record before patriots hire him. Pretty good hire there. Sabin coaching record at mich. state wasn’t outstanding. He’s done ok. You all just can’t look at win loss record of a coach to decide if he’s a good coach.

Both failed in the NFL, Marrones sample size in college to date is small however it was successful at Syracuse. I also included Carroll in that argument, along with Kiffin.

I have a pretty good argument and I admire your ignorant Alabama arrogance.

It was NOT successful, except for one year, bud.

Minshew will save Marrone's job in Jacksonville and it will be interesting to see how the Jalen Ramsey trade request plays out.

I think Dan Quinn's days are numbered in Atlanta because they have no defense and he is supposed to be a defensive guru.

After Lane, Dooley, Butch and Pruitt, following up with a fired coach...

Wow
Good coaches don't leave places because they are winning championships at their current position. Sometimes a new start is just what they needed, see coach Barnes for example.
