The 8 games had nothing to do with the NCAA.Here is a better analogy \/

I'm aware of that. Regardless of who sent down the punishment, Pearl still missed half of the SEC regular season. That, coupled with the other self imposed penalties seems more in line with his crime.

And my analogy addresses the fact that lying is the reason he was in major trouble despite the fact that his crime was minor.

Your analogy implies that the BBQ was just a lead up to far worse crimes. Which would be speculation on your part. So no, I feel my analogy was better.

The punishment that the NCAA has imposed on others who did the same thing Pearl did says that you are wrong.

Here is an analogy for you. A criminal goes in front of a judge for his 2 year sentence and says that he should not receive jail time because his Mom grounded him for a month.

It does not work that way.

Again, I am well aware of the other 19 cases. You come across as thinking you are the only one who has any idea of whats going on.

I'm not saying Pearl is being singled out unfairly because the NCAA hates us or anything like that. I'm saying Pearl, or anyone else who lies to the NCAA, gets overly punished. If he had lied about paying a player or giving a player a car or something like that, I would support a lifetime ban. But lying about a secondary violation (although stupid on his part) doesn't constitute a two year ban in my opinion.

Lying about a misdemeanor can get you in trouble too, but it doesn't turn it into a felony with a prison sentence.

Unfortunately for Bruce, the NCAA does not care what you think the punishment should be. He knew the possible consequences of his actions and did it anyway.

Agreed, they only care about their opinion. It just rubs alot of us fans wrong that an institution as hypocritical as the NCAA takes a holier than thou approach to people who lie to them.

I'm not defending his lying, but I think most reasonable people would agree that slapping ANYONE with a 2 year ban for lying about a secondary violation is excessive.

It is still hard for me to fathom how he put himself and us in this position. He was adored by most of Knoxville and had it great. Some people are just self destructive. I am sorry that he is one of them.

I don't understand it either. It makes me sick just thinking about it.
