I think he's correct in some point. Dooley, Pearl, Kiffin, and Raleigh were picked because they were the top names in the lower level conferences. No big name hires. Look for the next coach to be a nobody that we over pay.

Gottlieb might be the worst guy on ESPN radio... How many different time slots can a guy be put in before ESPN figures out nobody wants to listen to this idiot. He has know idea what is going on at Tenn but makes comments about them all the time. He is a JOKE.

You left out that he is a criminal (as LawVol13/GAVol/Utvolpj all pointed out) based on his credit card fraud days before he was asked to leave ND. That would also make him quite the liar. So maybe he sees Bruce Pearl differently than others.

His opinion on Coach Dooley is beyond weak. Guy is starting his 2nd full year on the job and is in the begining stages of rebuilding a football program from the ground up. How many UT folks did he speak with to base his opinion of Coach Dooley. Oh yeah, that's right none.

When Pearl and his camp is resulting to Gottlieb to voice their "spin", you know that he is hurting for people to back him up at the moment.

Easy to take a shot at Dooley now because he would not give Bruce his support last week in helping him keep his job. Surprised he did not take a shot at Summitt too since she did the same.

Agree 100%. It was stupid to lie about something so small but he did and the NCAA will make an example of him. But those of you out there that think Pearl's actions prove he is no better than other cheaters who pay their players, are out of touch with reality.

I still am amazed that people don't get it. It's not the cheating. If it was a minor violation and he owned up to it, he'd still be the coach.

It's the same deal as Clinton. If he just owned up to getting a little shine & polish in the oval office, he would have been in a lot less hot water (well, maybe save with Hillary. Those cankles could do some serious damage in a leg lock).

It wasn't the rule-breaking, it was the lie about the rule-breaking. It turned a minor deal into a very, very big one.

No one likes to be lied to, and he should be punished for it. But a two year ban seems really excessive. Especially considering the 8 game suspensions/pay cut/one year recruiting ban already imposed.

Its like telling a cop you had no idea you were speeding and the cop responding with "You know damn well you were speeding, I was just gonna write you a ticket but now you've bought yourself two years in prison"

Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice in the Paula Jones case, not for his oval office tryst with Monica Lewinsky.

Gottlieb is a moron and I don't care much for him, although I agree MH needs to go, and I agree Pearls infraction wasn't really cheating, it was the lie that got him. And as for Dooley, I really like the guy. I think he's doing a great job and i really like the way the future is looking in Fooball!

Pearl isn't under oath and he isn't getting in the way of someone else's right to life liberty and pursuit of happiness. That's why those people go to jail. More on the line when you lie in court as opposed to the irrelevant NCAA.

I did not say that Pearl committed perjury. He is obviously not facing jail. I asked his thoughts on people going to jail for lying. A much harsher punishment than what Pearl received for lying.
