Dormady's playing time.

Everybody is an expert on college QBs until the lights come on and they MUST perform. How many write ups did we see where Auburn's QB this year was the second coming of Tom Brady and overshadowed Dobbs by leaps and bounds? Then the lights came on and opposing defenses that didnt respect him got placed on the field wanting to tear his head off and he becomes very regular if not horrible, the jury is still out, but he's not performing well. The same is true of Dormady and to compare his performance to date as to that of Dobbs, he is very untested. Dobbs has seen opposing SEC defenses multiple times, including Bammer's twice and did not wilt under the pressure. Dormady may be ok, but we'll not know until he is tested. Tossing the ball and running an offense against 3rd and 4th stringers of an FCS school in a rout is not being tested.

No...he wasn't, and was as impressive as advertised. Dobbs was not. Even his long completion to Wolf down the seam required a major adjustment and athletic catch. It was thrown behind Wolf. Had it been thrown in stride Wolf is still running.

Dobbs is our best chance, right now. But that throw perfectly illustrates the limitation in his game, and is why they don't call many deep passes from Dobbs. They are not comfortable with something he does. I don't know if its how he sees the field (about half) or his lack of touch and accuracy.

Flame away.

What about the deep pass to Malone that hit him in stride and in the hands? Malone just dropped it. Right on the money and right where only his man could catch it.

I believe that Dobbs has hit as many receivers down field on target as he has missed, the balls are just not getting caught!!!

I would be interested in seeing the exact #s but I believe they would surprise most who question his accuracy. The amount of throw aways due to pressure and Drops would probably jump his accuracy to over 75%on his career. He is the QB for LSU, Georgia or Alabama right now, then he is a Heisman Candidate. JMHO.

I say play em both until we start scoring. Give Dobbs 2 or 3 drives then make a switch for one drive. Receivers need the ball!!

The 50 yard bomb to Williams was money. I dont care if it was against their third string. It was on our Wr outside shoulder and hit him in stride. I havent seen a ball that well placed since Casey. We got a stud as a backup...but we need a line to protect him.

I know i was at the game. He was however playing against backups when he threw the Touch down pass...in the 3rd Quarter. His first drive in the 2nd Quarter started on like the 3 yd line didn't it after McNeal's return of the interception. Then the second drive they went 3 and out or one first down and then punted. He wasn't playing the fresh starters the entire time. I am not trying to take away from what Dormady did against any competition. You just can't compare it to The way Dobbs managed the game and played. Dobbs looked good and so did Dormady. The QB position has a bright future at UT no matter who the starter is after Dobbs. Go Vols!!!

Watched it twice, looking for anything good. This was a FCS team...and not North Dakota State quality...in other words not good. If they put their backups in, it wasn't a noticeable gap. When the dust clears, Dormady is a more natural and instinctual THROWER...I'll go ahead and put IMO but that's not the sole basis for our starting QB...Dobbs will get better but he won't be better in that aspect. For perspective , I'd put Bray as a top 5 or higher THROWER but way down the list on the QB ranking.

I agree with what you are saying, I just believe that Dobbs isn't as bad as everyone is saying because of the lack of help he is getting. I will repeat it but I think that if he was playing for LSU, Georgia, or Alabama this conversation wouldn't be taking place. they have superior Oline and their receivers havn't been dropping wide open passes. I think on one of those teams he is receiving the hype of a Heisman contender.

Its amazing how an good QB on an average team looks average and on a good team looks better than they may actually be.

In my opinion, we don't have enough support around him (especially on the Oline) or the players around him aren't playing up to their potential (mainly the receivers). The whole offense looks bad not just Dobbs, but the spotlight will be on him because he is the CEO QB of this team.

How do you throw a 50 yd bomb from the 24 yardline? This is exactly how things get out of hand on here. He did releases the ball around the 29 yardline but it was not anywhere near a 50 yd bomb.

John Dobbs threw the same pass to Malone the week before agains Oklahoma's best Cornerback Sanchez. It was about 8-10 yards closer but still the same throw regardless.

How do you even compare the 2 throws? Dobbs did it against a team that is actually relavant in college football and Dormady did it against a tired and defeated FCS School. People only see what they want to see. This board is unbelievable sometimes.

They were both great throws but Dormady's wasn't any better than Dobbs. With the level of competition it would have been better if he had made the throw in practice against a real defense.

Hey, any defense of Dobbs has my backing. He's our starter and should be til he graduates.

Agreed. He is our best chance at winning. I just want both our freshmen qbs to be able to develop and be ready when their # is called to perform on the field. Go Vols!!!
