Dormady's playing time.

Dobbs was put in the pocket by the coaches and he was not there by his choice. THEY deserve tremendous blame for our loss. Dobbs is not the drop back QB they think he is or want him to be. Dobbs is an incredibly talented athlete and skamper QB, and if our coaches called appropriate plays to his strengths, not weaknesses, we'd be #18 in the polls this week and 3-0 come Sunday morning.

Team #119 and the Fans are owed an apology by the coaching staff.

I heard the other day that the coaching staff replaced all of the 2 ply toilet paper with one ply.

Cmon man. Can't you think of anything else to bash the staff with. I am sure you will find something.

Its way more likely that Dormady never starts a game here, than him taking Dobbs job.

Dormady can't pass to receivers that can't get open while he is being pressured. He also can't make them hold on to good passes they drop.

I suspect we'll see Dormady for 20-25 minutes. Dobbs will play the entire half, and will still be playing early in the 3rd quarter. At some point during the 3rd, the coaches will have achieved all their goals for his and the 1st string's development, and out they'll come.

Run, run, pass, run, run, pass, run, run, pass, run, run, pass, run, run, pass. That is the formula Debord is using - it's tried and true

If you're going to insult a coach, at least get some facts on your side. Here's how the play calling really looked against OK, series by series:

rrPPPPrrPr/FG
rrPP/punt
rrPrrrrP/TD
rrP/punt (hey, one that actually went as you said!)
Prrr/TD
rrP/punt (two! you are knocking it out of the park!)
PrP/punt
PPrP/end of half
rPrPP/FG(missed)
PPPrPP/punt
PrP/punt
rrPPrrPP/punt
rrP/punt (you're 3 for 13!)
rrP/punt (4 for 14!)
PPPrr/TD
rPP/INT

So you're right once in a while. :eek:hmy:

JP, at risk of sounding sycophantic, I sincerely appreciate your posts on this forum. You bring quality observation based on actual film breakdown without bias or hyperbole. Thanks, man.

He at least needs some game experience to make his mistakes. I think the team is behind him and he is very talented. Would to see him play a little.

Dormandy is by no way ready to be a starting qb in the sec. Didn't he and his team lose to Robinson in the first round of the 2014 playoffs? Boerne should have crushed them.

While I don't believe there is a "quarterback controversy", I have posted earlier that I want to see Dormady get game reps that mean something, not just handing the ball off to the backs when the game has been decided.

But I would suggest that Butch has conditioned Vol fans to expect more from Dormady. Remember in 2014 when he would not name a quarterback and everyone wanted Ferguson? Butch would never say anything encouraging about a quarterback, just that all were learning or something like that, never gave anyone individual praise. Well, this year is different, he has praised Dormady many time, effusively, and named him the 2nd quarterback publicly early on. Lately he has said he will get "meaningful snaps".

My point is that Butch has raised the expectations and Dormady showed a lot of promise in the spring game. He does need to get live reps in a game when it counts.

The reason he never gave praise was because he knew we weren't that strong and it was a tight race for the starting QB. Dormady clearly has a leg up on S. Jones if for no other reason but that he was here in the spring. Dormady has all of the qualities to be a sucessful QB but so does S. Jones and both the other QBs coming in the next 2 years.

Dormady needs some reps I agree so that if God forbid Dobbs gets hurt he can confidently run the offense. He just didn't look that confident in the Bowling Green game of course because he is a freshmen in his first college action. We need to get him comfortable with the offense so he can develop into a QB that can confidently run this offense in Dobbs absense. Just don't be too over confident in any Freshman QB, Dormady may be great but he will probably struggle atleast at first against strong SEC competition if he has to play due to injury.

I hope not. Things will have to get real bad with our next few games for that happen. Pulling Dobbs at this point or any point this season is a recipe for a lot of losses with our schedule. Just don't see it happening.

My expectations are that the coaching staff fix our issues in the next 2 weeks and have the offense hitting on all cylinders going into the Fla game.

Everyone laying all the blame on Dobbs. From what I've seen so far the majority of the problem is the receivers not getting any seperation. That and an Oline that collapses in 2 seconds with pass protection. Also the receivers need to work on rerouting and getting open when Dobbs is flushed out of the pocket and on the run. Everyone so quick to jump to conclusions and throw Dobbs under the bus needs to go back and watch the receivers on the offensive play by play vids
If the receivers can't get open than I'm putting the blame on Azzani. We got all the talent in the world and this guy is running them into the ground. Id love to see him gone. Put the best three on the field and keep them there.

If anyone listened to Vol Calls, through the muck of highly screened questions, it seems Butch might have at least cracked the door. We're definitely going to see Dormady Saturday. Will be interesting to see how much.

I can't believe we had to wait this long for this to start...I can see why Peyton doesn't want to be the head coach of the Vols

I'm hoping they get things sorted out by Fla. Really don't understand the drop off from last year. I know the passing game wasn't elite last year, but I remember Pig, Pearson, and even Croom getting quite a few touches and making alot plays. As far as Azzani, if things don't turn around quick, they might need to start looking around at some point. Definitely wayyyy too much talent at WR to be wasted away. Gonna take the wait and see approach though. I have faith they'll get things clicking going into the Fla game. I HOPE anyway.

No, it doesn't. But hey, who wants to talk about Western Carolina?

I hope the players want to talk about western Carolina. I'm sure Arkansas fans weren't concerned about Toleda or Auburn fans about whoever outplayed them. As bad as I feel about last week it would be much worse if UT somehow loses Sat.

Who is this person???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

There is a QB controversy. The controversy is that UT still doesn't have an Oline that will block for him, he doesn't have WRs that can consistently get open for him and he made some controversially bad decisions at QB in the Oklahoma game as well.

Plenty of controversy going on.

I am open to playing Dormady some. If anything, to give some change of pace and see what he can do.

Why would this be a bad thing? Especially when Dobbs has one of his meltdowns and goes into his shell............

But if Dobbs is struggling because of poor Oline and WR play. What makes you think a true freshman is gonna do any better given the exact same circumstances?

Wouldn't be surprised to see this "Azzani let go after bad season. Butch hires his wife's 2nd cousin to coach WRs. He is currently a high school WR coach" Butch responds that while some of the top WR coaches in the country contacted him about the position he felt this guy was the best "fit"

Exactly. If Dobbs is struggling with the poor Oline and receiver play, imagine what a disaster putting in a freshman against fla,ga,bama, etc would be. Absolutely 0 chance of this happening...at all...period

Kinda what Fla did against us at home last year isn't it?
