Dormady play on Saturday?

What is everyone's thoughts on how Dormady played last Saturday? I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it. I thought he made some really nice throws and some that would have picked off with SEC DB's. He looked like he has a live arm with very good velocity. What's your thoughts about his play and his future next year?

He will make a wonderful backup to Jarrett Guarantano

Still needs to work on his pocket presence, the arm power is there but he needs to work on accuracy and timing with his receiver.

Even though I think he's going to be a starter next year, don't think he'll be as effective as Dobbs especially when CBJ like Dual Threat QBs

He is dual threat.

Arm strength is way down the list of what makes a successful qb. Neither Peyton nor Brady have big arms.

The situations were pretty close. I would say our 2s and 3s have a larger gap of talent over their 2s and 3s vs starter on starter. Dobbs had a better game either way.

I just don't understand why people are so confident the guy who keeps having worse passing numbers when he gets the chance will be throwing for Peyton Manning type numbers.

I thought Peyton had a strong arm and touch in college and his first few years in the NFL

Dobbs might roll out and throw as often as he runs the ball. Dormady was still throwing great passes when not just standing in the pocket. He may not be like Dobbs when he runs. But he's not like Worley either.

I'm putting my blue glasses on and praying Dobbs doesn't come throwing bombs like the one he gave to Malone (i think) last year and instead throws like he vs USCjr. Also hoping UT is dumb enough to not run Dobbs much like in some of these games. I feel like Dobbs is due for a bad game vs us eventually like he's had against plenty of other teams.

Its never good when you are using the, they are do for a bad game argument. You are basically saying that we know they are better and hope they are off their game. Besides I think you should be more worried about Kelly and Kamara and that Barnett guy who had a sack party in Lexington last year

I see Dormady being a much, much better passer than Dobbs is. I, personally, would like to see him start next season and not J.Q.
It would be nice if our offense next season would have 350 yards passing each game and 150 rushing.
We have the q.b. We have the receivers, backs & tight ends to get the 350 passing yards. Hope our o-line improves though.

LOL.

You guys will be in for a ride awakening next year if you think Dormady is the answer.

Luckily I see zero chance of him starting. It'll be Guarantano's job from the opening snap. Dormady will hopefully be holding the clipboard all year once again next season.

Dobbs keeps out performing him in games and practice and usually facing tougher starting competition. Saturday was a good example of this.

Why would he do better when he hasn't shown he can? That makes no sense. How do so many expect a qb that keeps getting out performed to do better starting a whole year?

That the million dollar question we all want an answer to.

Dormady looked great. IMO, right now, there isn't a huge drop off between Dobbs, Dormady, Jones, and Guarantano. Funny how TN is as deep as ever at QB and Dobbs is healthy all year. LBs, DTs, DBs, and OL aren't nearly as deep and are obliterated by injury.

And you know this how?

With this o-line I doubt Dormady could even last a quarter. Maybe the kid is great throwing against air. But on this team he would not last. He would be totally useless against teams like Florida.

Dormady is accurate when rolling out. Dobbs is not. Moving the pocket counters an attacking defense.

Just like Jalen Hurd, Dormady is not suited for Butch Jones offense, the Vols need a threat to run the ball and Dormady's not that guy:eek:hmy:

He does have very good arm strength and better accuracy than Dobbs

And you know this how?

The kid has literally not thrown a pass against an SEC defense.

He's a placeholder. Nothing more.

Guarantano is the QB of the future for this program.

Your passion for Dobbs and hate for Dormady are so entertaining..I'll miss this next year..almost.

The guy has yet to throw a meaningful pass in an SEC game. Even Dobbs looked like Peyton Manning throwing the ball against Tennessee Tech.

Nobody here knows anything about Dormady's accuracy. Why? Because he's yet to take a meaningful snap in an SEC game.

Talk to me about his accuracy when he makes one throw against a defense with a pulse.

It's pretty obvious for anybody that's seen Dormady and Dobbs throw that he is.

Really?

Cause I saw Dobbs go 12-13 for 3 TDs against the same defense last week. And I would argue the best throw of the game was made by Dobbs to Malone for his 2nd TD.

Dobbs showed better accuracy last week than Dormady so what are you talking about?

There is no real way to compare Dobbs and Dormady. Its silly to try. Dobbs is the starter the rest of this year. It will be a very interesting QB battle next year for sure.

Dormady was firing passes deep and on target. Most of Dobbs passes aren't beyond the sticks... especially the ones that he completes.
