Dormady Next?

Except he has an arm. Worley was from SC and didnt have an offer from USCe. Dormady had an offer from Bama.

Well only time I seen JG play was Under Armor All Star game didn't look good. Could be great college player could be a bust. We seem to get them even in the 5 star category
Also I haven't seen enough of Dormady except handing off the ball and he looked good against Western Carolina as a freshman, which was a terrible team.

I would like to see them compete along with SJ this Spring it could only make them better and 1 could transfer after their beat out. It's really simple.

I think JG is a rare talent. I think for him to be a stud, he has to have a coach that has a track record of developing QB's. Nothing about Butch's past hires or experiences gives me any hope that JG can be maximized to his talent.

I think one of two things are likely to happen during or just after spring camp next year:

(1) Dormady wins the starting job, Jones changes position, and Guarantano becomes the #2; or

(2) Guarantano wins the starting job, Dormady transfers, and Jones changes position.

Could be wrong; Sheriron could become the man. Dormady could stay even if bypassed. Guarantano could leave. But I suspect one of the two scenarios above is more likely to play out.

Ive been wondering what Dormady and Jones have been thinking this season about getting some playing time. Really how bad does Dobbs have to play for one of those guys to get a shot at starting a game?

I think you're right, JP. As much as I'd love to keep all three of these guys, I've always thought it was very unlikely. All three of them could be a starting QB for a lot of P5 teams right now. We have an abundance of riches at the QB position.

I don't think you'll see anyone but Josh Dobbs start a game for the Vols at QB this year, barring injury.

And I don't think you'll necessarily see Dormady on the field in anything other than garbage time (have we had any of that this year? Seems like not much), UNTIL the bowl game. I think the bowl is a really good opportunity for Butch to give Josh the start, then pull him at the end of the 1st Qtr and really give Dormady some playing time. Maybe Jones, too. Not Guarantano, they'll preserve his red shirt.

Other than that, Dobbs will continue to be our QB through the season. No doubt at all.

I will be surprised if both Dormady and JG graduate from Tennessee....I think one will leave and go elsewhere. It happens.

Dobbs has earned the right to start the final four games, period. I have questions about CBJ, but not on this, get a lead and let QD play but Dobbs should be the starting QB until our last game of this season. One of my favorite Vols ever, despite his limitations

In your second scenario, why does Sheriron change positions? Who's the backup? I think if he doesn't win the nod, he transfers also.

Dormady will be the starter next year unless things continue to go south..then maybe this year.

That first question is a good one, Butchna, you could be right. If any one of them leave, the other two become starter and backup...backup being attractive mainly because it's one injury away from being the starting QB for the Volunteers.

As for two of the three transferring out, it could happen. But I think it likely won't. Sheriron learned last year that he really likes it at Tennessee, feels at home here, and surely did not feel right at Colorado. I think he stays through just about anything. Which is why I find it more likely that he changes position if it becomes clear he won't be the #1 QB at any point. I get the distinct impression Sheriron really, REALLY wants to get on the field and play.

I have an idea, why don't we wait and see which QB is better instead of proclaiming them as the next savior of the program before either ever takes a MEANINGFUL snap at UT. Geez, I don't care about playing favorites and saying I told you so, I just want to see one of them out there kicking butt.

My greatest fear for the Vols and Dormady is that he wins the job in the spring because the coaches are slow to give JG or SJ the nod over the more experienced guy. Then Dormady doesn't play well early next year, the coaches make a change 4 or 5 weeks into the season and it's a lost season for both Dormady and the Vols.

I think Sheriron does love Tennessee and he returned because he felt he threw in too early. That being said, he's too good a quarterback to start all over. He could transfer knowing he gave it a fair shot and play QB elsewhere.

That doesn't make sense. He already had the opportunity to get on the field at Colorado. I doubt he will transfer again. I believe he will stick it out here knowing he may be nothing more than a backup. The back up is one play from being the starter. As we all know, injuries do happen.

He was going to have to sit out THIS season at Colorado anyway, so he wouldn't be "already getting on the field." I'm definitely not pulling for him to leave. I just think we're reading too much into him backing out of that transfer. Second guessing oneself is not a unique dynamic. I really believe he thought he'd come back and eventually win the starting QB spot. If he transfers, he lost one year off that timetable but could still start somewhere else for two seasons... makes perfect sense.
