Dormady is still the guy...

I think JG starts the game. It's the change they could make to possibly provide a spark. Obviously he has struggled in "limited" action. Give him shot in the first half. We know what Dormady has done in his first half action.

QD has 5 int in 55 attempts against SEC apponents. ZERO yards rushing in 5 games. He has been the starter all 5 games and has completely *#^T the bed. How can you or anyone else defend that??? CBJ is an idiot for keeping him in the game or for not changing the offense. How could anyone want QD to start another game??? I think Colton Jumper could do better than QD........ And he is terrible!

Well, linebacker's with true-heart for the team can apparently fill-in at qb...

The point now is, can Butch Jones lead this team to a victory against SC?

So you know for a fact that JG isn't as good a runner as Dobbs? If that's the case then what are the lottery numbers?

He was a top rated DT QB coming out of high school, so even if he is half the runner Dobbs is he's still a far better runner than QD and a bigger threat if that's the case

Again any time he's been in there the coaches have put him in situations where it's like they know he will fail.

We don't know if JG can lead us to wins cause he's never had a chance, we know QD can't lead us

Guarantano was not a very good runner in high school, so it's pretty easy to say he is not the runner that Dobbs was. Also Guarantano was injured both his junior and senior year of high school missing large chunks of both seasons, do you really think he would hold up running in the sec? He may be the answer at qb, and I'd like to see him get a legitimate shot, but if your expectations are a Dobbs type runner you will be disappointed.

Again this is a Worley/Dobbs situation all over again, one QB seems like a practice warrior, not so much when live bullets start flying, hell this is the same coach who started Nate Peterman over Dobbs
Nope. While the OL still isn't great, it is nowhere near as bad as it was.

AND... Dobbs played well when given his chance. JG has not.

And FIVE games man, FIVE! How many games and INTs do you need to see to know the kid sucks?
When WR's stop giving up on routes and dropping passes into the hands of defenders... we can talk.

There are two kinds of posters who post things like you just did. One, those vested in JG for some personal reason. Two, those whose knowledge of football is so shallow that they don't understand that a QB "looks bad" often because of the mistakes of others. Both Jones and Scott have indicated that's been the case sometimes. Not all of the time and NO ONE is saying that Dormady has played "great". But you have to give both of these guys a "chance" before condemning them... and UT's WR's aren't doing that.

You're also talking about the UMass game where JG got what two series? Yeah that's really enough to tell if the kid is good or not.
Three consecutive series with the #1 O. In the previous 4 series, QD had led the O to 17 points... but Jones thought the O needed a "spark".

You are making FAR more irrational and less fact based declarations about Dormady. JG has played worse... and he hasn't played against the best competition UT has faced. He couldn't get it done vs ISU or UMass.

So... you are faced with a choice. Admit that he sucks WORSE than Dormady or that the biggest problems with the O are with the OL and WR's.

I think QD and JG are talented players. I think with support both could be very good QB's. They're not getting it and Jones isn't helping by refusing to put the QB under center to simplify blocking and play action routes.

Either they need to change the QB to be able to run this offense correctly or they need to change the offense all together cause having a statue at QB for a read option offense does no good

They do need to change the O. There aren't many guys around who can bail it out as consistently as Dobbs did with his legs.

Dormady is not a statue.

JG is not a runner like Dobbs. In fact, he is MUCH closer to QD than Dobbs. He's a passer... which is a GOOD thing if he has someone dependable to throw to.

This isn't a "read option" offense. It is a west coast spread offense with the read option in the playbook. When he first arrived, Jones said his goal was for the QB to be a distributor and run just enough to keep the D honest.

There are NUMEROUS NFL and CFB teams running the west coast spread successfully without a running QB.

I think JG starts the game. It's the change they could make to possibly provide a spark. Obviously he has struggled in "limited" action. Give him shot in the first half. We know what Dormady has done in his first half action.

Jones inserted him in the UMass game to provide a "spark"...

JG needs a chance to start and use his leadership reps he used in practice. Offense doesn't need a spark, it needs a leader. Everybody has seen the lack of "spark" or "leadership" that QD has provided. Wonder how many right shoes QD has worn out this year from throwing off his back foot.

How bad is Jennings hurt and which hand was injured? We know he can run. I ready to try about anything to get some offense.

at this point I would direct snap it to calloway, byrd, or Kelly. At least this way we shouldn't throw too many interceptions. New offense "Direct leadership snap and clear, brick by brick"

maybe a good idea to try a "wildcat play" every so
often, get some different mortar in those bricks:ermm:

So, I see that the on the official depth chart vs USC QD is named the starting QB again.

Is JG that bad in practice, is it an attitude problem, or does CBJ just like to try and put him in when we are losing in the 3rd quarter?

I know we don't see what goes on 99% of the time, but at this point what do we have to lose by trying a new starting QB? We are out of the race for the East already.

Just reminds me of the Worley and Dobbs dilemma all over again.

This dilemma may have just resolved itself......and the Butch tenure has prob been shortened even more.

Neither QB is ready for the SEC. The fact that they both want the job handed to them and are not willing to come out and compete may the best man win each week shows what Jones has created at Tennessee. Dormady gone it is all on Guarantano and McBride may be a lot closer to playing than he ever expected.
