Dormady, is it time

No, it's not time for Dormady. He would've gotten his neck broken last night.

Hate to say it, but I strongly agree with one thing D4H has said often....the play calling was horrific and gave Dobbs no chance to be dynamic or successful. No slants, no seam routes, no back shoulder throws, absolutely nothing up the field with the exception of the TD throw to Malone, which was the one time we actually threw deep. I just don't get it. Too damn predictable and unimaginative. Play calling and subsequently the results on first down was horrific. If Dobbs is your QB then let him play.

On second thought, if Butch is gonna continue with this "I don't trust my senior, dark horse Heisman candidate and 2nd team all-SEC QB", then maybe they should just bench him and go with somebody else. What we saw last night was utter coaching malpractice.

Agreed.

Dobbs is not the issue, it's all on the play calling.

How do we actually know Dobbs is an awful passer like most are saying? He gets 2-3 opportunities a game to throw the ball were he isn't in a 3rd and long situation. I think he's good enough to keep teams honest ( look at the TD drive with Malone ) but isn't given an opportunity.

Also.. why the hell is he not running more?

The "we are vanilla for the first game" argument is laughable. We almost lost yet they stayed vanilla because they knew we would pull it out at the end?

for a dual quarterback plan?.
For now, we are a one dimensional offense. This will not work in the SEC. Hurd run, Hurd run, Hurd run, geese give me a break.
Dobbs cannot throw accurately passed fifteen yards.
Our play calling is so predictable it is pathetic. No surprises, no trick plays, nothing!.

Putting Dormady in will quickly take you back to the days of Worley. No Oline to block and now where to run. At least Dobbs gives us a fighting chance. And if you're basing last nights "Vanilla" play calling and execution was a look into the future, all you need to do is look to last years Bama game or the NW game as references as to what this offense looks like. Believe me VT isn't going to watch much of last night and definitely won't base their game paln off of it either.

Dormady would be constantly taking shots due to the poor O-Line play. Dormady isn't the runner that Dobbs is so he would have a hard time escaping pressure. You're asking for trouble if you think he'll make us play better.

Dobbs can throw the ball just fine they just don't let them smh. For reference look at the Malone throw it was a beauty of a throw. Tight spiral that was right on the money.

That ball was NOT "right on the money"... SMH..

My faith in Dobbs throwing the football in disappearing very quickly, I'm not sold on the idea that he can be a championship QB:dunno:

how do you know he couldn't be an effective runner? I thought I saw somewhere that he was faster than Dobbs

The Vols can't beat the UTC Mocs with Dobbs trying to be Peyton Manning. He is absolute garbage as a pocket passer. Even if he were decent at delivering the ball accurately and on time from the pocket, which he isn't, our offensive line couldn't protect him anyway.

I can't blame Jones for wanting to limit the hits on Dobbs in a game that should have been a route. Jones surely realizes now, though, that we can't beat anyone if Dobbs doesn't run. Our entire offense is predicated on it. We just have to have both of our backups ready to play. You cannot baby Josh Dobbs. From this point on, he has to get at least 10 carries per game. End of story.

The way our oline played Dormady would have been sacked 10 times last night. Dobbs wasn't great, but our oline was bad. And, the game plan was about as bad as I can remember. Even worse Debord would not change it up. We were successful running straight at them, but we continued to run the zone outside. It was maddening watching our offense.

I don't agree with the practice...but you really think that was our whole offense on display? I don't...therefore I believe what I said. :hi:

I really dont know and next week will tell the story. I can say this, that vanilla thing needs to be kicked to the curb. It almost cost us the game if in fact thats what happened. I do hope Butch intentionally ran a vanilla scheme. Because if not.....

If that's how the oline is going to play, we put Dormady in...he's not going to last long.

Does Dormady have the wheels to play behind the Vols Oline?

Perhaps there is another QB on the bench more equip to play behind the Vols Oline...............one that can run and throw

Dobbs didn't look the part of a championship QB last night
