Dorian Gerald Commits!

You don't have to explain it to me, my lol was a shortened explained version of what you wrote because I didn't want to waste the time on it.

Taking him out of Columbia, SC away from USCe and over all the other offers is huge and just proves how hard our coach is working.

well whatever you got from that, you got on your own. i didn't insinuate or reference anyhting other than who the main competition was for the kid, while also acknowledging he had a great offer list.

so if you want to get an inference, the inference would be ....we beat USCE head to head for him, and a lot of other schools wanted him.

Wells is as well. In the article, Gerald mentioned that Wells is one of the main reasons that he committed to UT. Although we have not yet seen what Wells will accomplish with the OL coaching, it is obvious that the man is a recruiting machine. When he was hired and people were wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth, I posted that I believed that we would be very happy with his hiring. So far it is looking like a home run.

Well, don't break an arm patting yourself on the back over there.

Well technically they were our main competition since they were his home school.
But I get your point. Makes it sound like they were the only other real team wanting him. The more accurate way to put it would be..everyone wanted him, but we were the only place he was leaving South Carolina for.

except i also said he had a great offer list....

what y'all are getting out of that 1 line post, is what YOU want to get out of out...has nothing to do with what was posted....which was a simple little fact....with no inferences or inuendos, except those applied to it by others.

Betting Muschamp is second guessing himself.

You're overreacting Francine.
For anyone who doesn't follow recruiting, your post would not have portrayed the scenario correctly.
I simply explained.

If only some of our fans believed in CBJ like these recruits do.

Fans evaluate coaches based on wins and losses primarily, but recruits rarely use that as a significant factor when choosing a school. Close to home, fan of the school, national exposure, and relationship with a position coach rank higher for recruits. So while your post sounds good, it's not really based in reality or logic.

Recruiting is going very well, though I must say.

Just the SOS different day on here. Although we did beat them out for him we also beat out 20 other schools and 10 of them being those "elite" coaches everyone wants to say is above Butch.

so rather than have you two explain it for me, i took it upon myself.

Jake is usually alright. Just really sensitive if he thinks anyone is criticizing him. Unfortunately, as I witnessed before, the criticism doesn't actually have to exist.

Boom and one only has to go back what? 12 to 18 weeks and see the "fire CBJ" threads for the poor recruiting class. Such is life on VN. LOL

Well the reality is that UT is 3rd overall in wins the last two years in the SEC and the only SEC team with 3 bowl wins in a row. That correlates with fans perceiving a coach with wins and losses. So while you stated my post sounds good the reality is my logic is more significant to what the recruits are seeing. Not your way of thinking.

In the grand scheme of things Coach Jones and staff have improved remarkably over the last few years in the win column before he got here, APR is at an all time high, players being drafted in his first cycle of upperclassman, etc. If the fans are only looking at the wins and losses then they're being narrow minded. What I mean by that is the last two years are the true two years we can judge Coach Jones and last year was injury riddled. Now I understand Jones has questions marks but it does not take away the mark improvement we have had under Jones and staff. And the recruits have noticed.

I didn't rip you for the comment, check for yourself. I could just see how it could be taken differently than you meant happens all the time to everyone. No bad intention. You're reaction to that was the only thing I was critical of.

Started off talking about new recruit. Ended up arguing over nothing. Kind of like politics right now. If everyone could just try to be kind instead of nitpicking, oh hell forget that!

Good point, didn't mean anything to cause an argument.
Sometimes kids have offers from big time schools but they can't actually commit because those schools are waiting to see what their first choice does.
Just wanted everyone to understand all the schools did want him, not just us and SC. I knew what Jake meant and wasn't saying anything negative towards him. Just clarifying.
Kid is a get and highly sought after.
