Are you guys Vols or just only around in the good times? So many of you saying you are "out" is like I accidentally stumbled upon a message board for USC.

I have been a die hard fan since I was in the 6th grade literally living for Saturdays in the Fall. I have scheduled my son's birthday party (9/13) around the UF game more than once, my wife will typically schedule family outings around bye weeks etc. As far as fans go, I have been as dedicated to this team as any non-alumni could be (including being crushed when my parents told me out-of-state tuition was not an option)
As I said earlier my feelings are more about the state of college football. I have been listening and reading about the "business" of college football. Des Howard seemed perfectly content saying there isn't an issue with Kiffin leaving like this because that is what college football has become.
He's right, college football is no longer about getting an education, competition or fair play. College football has become (I know that it was this way before, but has only been getting worse) about the rich getting richer (i.e. no playoff), coaching contracts that have little to no resemblance of a real contract (although in Kiffin's case Hamilton made another contract error), and game of who can lie the best to recruits.
I posted this yesterday on my facebook account and it still rings with me today...how can the NCAA allow a coach to come into a program, kick players off the team, revoke scholarships, tell kids to come to a school then walk away without any penalty all in the same year. What in the world does that teach our young people? How is ruining a young person's life because they don't "fit" the system and then bolting months later any different that locking a kid in a closet for a few hours? And it absolutely burns at me that O can call recruits during a dead period and offer them a scholarship to USC. How is the NCAA not all over that?!?!
Sorry for the rant this early in the AM, but in all honesty, before any of this happened I was still getting burned out on the idea that there is not a playoff. There is no doubt in my mind that the best team in the nation has not always won the BCS NC. What's the point of selling kids on the idea of fair and competitive play when it just flat isn't that way?
