The Twelve Rich White Men That Run Things In Knoxville call in their markers. Hamilton is fired. Fulmer becomes A.D., Cutcliffe becomes head coach.

It's not entirely out of the question. And if it happens, I'm out. Seriously. Out.

I do not think this scenario is all that far fetched.

1. There is a report that Fulmer has been contacted by the BOT.
2. Hamilton acknowledged no awareness of such contact. Muschamp falls through - BOT fire Hammy.
3. If Fulmer becomes AD, I think the first and obvious place he looks is Cutcliffe.

Here is another scenario with the same end result....
1. Hamilton cannot convince Muschamp, "settles" for Cutcliffe.
2. I believe the instant a former Fulmer connection is hired, Hamilton should start cleaning out his office.
3. Fulmer then comes in as AD.

Either way we would end up with Fulmer and Cutcliffe.

I think the root problem is related to UT not having a permanent president in place. Less accountability for Hamilton and the rest of the department.

Hopefully this all ends well...however, there is an uneasy feeling until this plays out the next few days. Afterward, either relief or panic.

Save some room for me guys, Im going with you. The thought of the Phil/Cut team is like going back in time ( I do not mean 98).

It's times like these that I take some peace in expanding my liked teams this Fall when I go to graduate school.

I live in KY, even attended UK for a few semesters (was accepted at UT but out of state tuition was too much) and my friends are trying like "heck" to get me to convert. I am not ready to yet, but agree, the Fulmer/Cutcliffe scenario would be a huge push toward the other side.

In all honesty though, I am more likely to lose my passion for College Football. I would still be interested, but the idea of no playoffs, no accountability for coaches, and student-athletes getting the run around. How can someone be passionate about that?

I also do not feel like I could support another Fulmer regime, and that includes Cutcliffe being the coach.

Our status as elite has been revoked. To the rest of the country we are a second level team. I thought he would leave us in three or four years but this is a bad joke. Will take time to recover from this.

I have no problem with Fulmer as AD. At least he's a vol at heart. Doug Dickey came back as AD and did a darned good job ... why not Phil?

The deal breaker for me is the combo of Fulmer and Cutcliffe. I tend to believe that if Phil's ego will allow it (big if, I know) he could be a great AD, but his history has stated that his pride and ego would get in the way of the best decision.

This is a serious concern. And the longer this drags on, the more realistic it gets. Eternal Vol is right, the fact that there's no real University president makes it that much more plausible that Fulmer + a couple of boosters could rally some of the BOT and eject Hamilton.

I would not be "out," because it's my freaking alma mater, but it would certainly turn fall Saturdays into a grim, joyless affair for at least five or six years. As I watched on my TV from home.

Tennessee has always been full of them sitting on the fence. But anyway, why would they fire MH? He brought in the guy that made a UT basketball team and did a pretty good job in hiring LK from a talent standpoint. How was he to know the guy was really a 15 yr old with a fake ID. Can't blame everything that happens on the AD.

This right here is the most truth i have read sifting through all these endless threads. I really don't fault Kiffin for doing this, we had to know what we were getting ourselves into to start out this unholy union. We looked around and saw the Petrinos and Sabans of the world and realized we needed our own snake in the grass to combat against the new age of coaches. We just witnessed the perfect storm of a established coach leaving a top tier job and a opportunity for our coach to pursue his dream job. We wanted to play with fire and we got burned.

The thing that's going to be the hardest to recover from is how this one move makes us look like a second rate jobber school to recruits and potential coaches. It's been a long time since we have been the prom date ditched before the big dance. This hire is HUGE and better be done with caution or we might be looking at days not seen since when CJM first came to town.

Are you guys Vols or just only around in the good times? So many of you saying you are "out" is like I accidentally stumbled upon a message board for USC.
