They will lose to UGA and South Carolina as well, and maybe Ole Miss or Kentucky.

They WILL or you THINK they will? Two of the best wins last year (combined 44 points)? Miss and Kentucky at home and 2 of our last 3 games? I see them goin 3-1 in those 4 games with the one loss at GA and I'm not convinced they lose that one.

True. We could, although I don't see it happening. There are many positions we loaded on (offense and defense) .
Other than WR, what other positions do you fee good about on offense? I wouldn't say we're even close to loaded on offense. Replacing 5 starters on the offensive line, a QB and RB with guys who have little to no SEC experience is not loaded in my opinion.

I challenge you or anyone else to find a more devoted fan of the University of Tennessee than I. I graduated from UT, travel to most away games and bowl games and donate every year for almost 20 years now and have season tickets.
However, I will not just accept what is thrown our way by an AD that appears to be in over his head. He got Pearl but has wiffed on everything else. From how he handled the Fulmer situation, the baseball hire, contract negotiation and the way he let Kiff have such a low buy out. And whether or not you want to face the truth he did have a knee jerk reaction with the hiring of our new football coach. I don't recall ANYONE cheering on this board or on the radio when DD was announced and there is a reason.
Now, if you want to live in a dream world and think all is fine then that is cool by me. But I refuse to do so and will call what I see.
I truly hope I'm wrong but I've seen little to nothing to make me think I am.

Kiffin was not a whiff. That staff was a homerun hire. How on earth can you blame Hamilton for Kiffin taking the USC job (whether you think Kiffin was wrong or not for taking the USC job a year into his tenure at UT)?

Well you didn't ask me but, figured i would butt in here. I like our running back depth, and tight end if we can get somebody behind stocker.

I am so freakin' tired of people saying Dooley is not the right coach. Listen people, he took the job when nobody else would. He didn't come in oblivious to the problems we have. He knows we need better special teams and is working on getting them better. For the rest, he can't help that we have no depth. That's not his fault. With those that left, they made up their minds a long time ago about leaving. Stephens needed to go! He salvaged a recuiting class and brought in some great coaches. I understand hope for the best and expect the worst, but these coaches will get it done. If people don't like him, then they need to go cheer for esqiure's # 1 girl out west! Go Vols!

1) He was at LA Tech. It's not like he did UT any favors necessarily. UT offering him the job is a lot bigger deal than him accepting the job.

2) Brought in some great coaches? I've said this before, but Baggett is the only new coach that I would for sure take over the previous staff. I think our definitions of "great" are different.

I agree with the rest, but people have every right to be skeptical about the hire. Dooley didn't exactly light it up at LA Tech. Just b/c he's a Saban disciple doesn't mean that he's the next Saban.

It's not Hamilton's fault that USC's first 4 or 5 choices declined the job. And it's not his fault that 4 or 5 of our first choices didn't have the balls to take on the challenge of cleaning up the mess we got going here (although I'm thankful the Cutcliffe thing didn't work out). Hamilton's only mistake was letting Fulmer stay a few years too many.

Sayin' that, I do think Dooley is doing a good job so far and I think we'll have a decent season next year.

I've posted it before and I'll post it again.

CDD was not one of my top five candidates, but it is what it is. I believe CDD wants to be here, will give it his absolute best and has the possibility to do great things. The question, will that be good enough? I think it will!

Look.....everyone's entitled to their opinion. You just have to remember what they say about opinions. In case you don't know.....write this down.

I think 7-6 with a bowl win.
But it wouldn't be the craziest thing if we somehow got 8 wins.

I just don't see 8 wins...now I also don't think we are only a 4 win team....I'm expecting 5-6 wins, maybe 7 and 8 if we get LUCKY....though I do think our defense will keep us close in games....I'm pretty excited about Wilcox....he managed to have a decent D with a smaller program where the athletes are probably not on par with the SEC so it should be interesting

True. We could, although I don't see it happening. There are many positions we loaded on (offense and defense) and will be sitting even better over the summer/fall with new additions which will win us some games. ALSO, something I think people overlook is the fact we a brand new system as been installed and it is one that many other SEC teams don't know the ins and outs. They can compare it to Saban's if they wish or Boise's if they may, but the fact is that the schemes CDD, CJC, and CJW throw at many of these SEC teams have not been seen by them thus make it hard to prepare.

Absolutely nothing that we win or lose this year will have anything to do with scheme.

While I disagree with VolDoc that our staff will be Masterminds of the Scheming world, I don't think I would go as far as to say "Absolutely nothing that we win or lose this year will have anything to do with scheme".

I'm just saying that based solely on talent comparison, I believe that we will simply win the games we're supposed to win and we will lose the games we're supposes to lose. I just don't think we're going to out "fox" anybody to a victory.

How about responding with something slightly intelligent? I'm sure that I already know the answer to my question.

Real clever.

I'm honestly tired of fighting the case against fans like you.

I'm tired of talking to the Kiffinites. So that's all I really have to say. If you love Kiff, his dad, and Orgeron so much; go cheer for the team they coach.

Stop trying to act clever because you see this season going differently than the real fans do.

I undersatnd what you are saying and agree. I just thought "Absolutly Nothing" was a little strong.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't comprehend the whole "Supposed" to win and lose thing. Were we supposed to win against Memphis in 96 or Wyoming in 08?

I'm not trying to start anything, I just don't understand it.

Yep, I already knew the answer to my own question. Humor me though and try to put a few coherent thoughts together on these 2 questions. Resist the urge to come back with the super effective :)ermm:) "Then git outta heer and go root for them Trojins."

1) How was Kiffin and Co. not an excellent hire at the time of the hiring?

2) What have Dooley and his staff done historically that make you confident about the future?

Just b/c I'm not biting the hook, line, and sinker on the Dooley hire doesn't mean that I don't want them to succeed or can't imagine them succeeding. But, there's no way that I'm as optimistic or excited about the program now as I was under the previous staff.

Interesting. I have followed the Vols since a kid in west tennessee when a guy named Dickey was Coach....am a UT graduate, although not utk. have been a season ticket holder, but dropped out to coach the kids on saturday while they where growing up. still go to games when i can and have given my share of money. All teams have ups and downs. I actually enjoy the process of seeing the pieces come togather and i do think its possible for DD to put togather a great team in the next few years. I don't like whining, shut up.

1) 5-15 in the NFL. Been called a flat out liar on national tv, granted it was Al Davis but he was right. Sure he came in and got our program some attention, but at what cost? The possibility of an NCAA investigation.

Sure I was excited about the hire when Kiff got here. But knowing what I know now, I'm ecstatic that he's gone and that we have a respectable coach.

2) Taken an awful NCAA program and got them to a bowl game in the first time in 7 seasons. Got said program the most attention, the right way not the Kiff way, that I can remember in my lifetime(which isn't that long but...). Came here and saved a class that could have possibly bottomed out and been a sub top 25 class after your hero fu*ked us.

And yes he fu*ked us, there's no way getting around it no matter how good the job he took was.

I know why your not excited about the program this year. You don't have someone in your face, on the media every day telling you how good we are gonna be this year and then going slightly above .500

We will see this year how it goes, and if it goes the way I'm figuring it to go and the players/staff perform; come to my house and I will have a huge helping of Dooley crow for you!
