For the record, disagreeing with CDD and/or MH on this subject does not equate to me disowning Dooley.

I still believe that he was and is the right man for the job and will do a great job. That being said, I still have an opinion and if, as in this case, it differs to such as degree as this, I will voice my opinion on VolNation.

Whether I'm flamed for it or not is of no consequence.

I'd rather risk losing to UNC rather than subdivision montana...i'm fearing an app st. @ the big house scenario or the wyoming game from two years ago.

Even in a good year, the stretch of games UT would be playing would be a murderers row. With this team, it could set the rebuilding effort back significantly.

I wish they could have dropped Cincy instead but this program is NOT ready for an SEC schedule that includes the East, LSU, Bama, and Arkansas then an OOC schedule that includes Cincy, MTSU, UNC, and Montana.

Sorry if that makes Dooley less of a "real man" to you but they're doing the right thing for the future of the program.

If it's the margin between making a bowl game or not, then making a bowl game with this young collection of talent is more important mostly for the added practices and TV exposure.

Personally while our OOC schedule gave me some bragging rights, the L from some of those games was worse then the W that Florida, Georgia or Auburn got from their patsy game. We also exposed our team to more injuries playing a tougher game vs. a glorified scrimmage.

I hate the negative PR this generates, but agree with the move given the circumstances.

My point is they should have never scheduled it then. Fine make the OOC's easier but don't do it last minute in a way that costs us cash and makes us look like wimps to the acc. If we suck we suck when it's time to play the series oh well. One Patsy win in a down season won't help so why take the bad PR for the change. I can't wait for us to drive by mediocre so I can see it the rearview.

are you kidding everyone is freaking out because we are Tennessee and should not back down to anyone especially North Carolina. It makes us look soft and the last i checked we play in the SEC and not in the Wac. we are supposed to be a power house school and it sends a bad message to furture recuirts. I would rather take a chance on getting our buts whipped and learn something from it than playing a cupcake school and just coasting.

Let me restate that... Kiffin would never publicly p---- out of a game like this.
And people saying he didn't "really" care, well 99% of what he says is bull anyway but I'm sure he would have no problem telling players whatever they needed to hear to get them fired up to take on a great team like unc.....

My view, and it's probable that I'm echoing someone who's post I haven't yet read, is that if we hadn't recently added Cincy upon Southern Miss' departure, North Carolina wouldn't have been axed. The fact that we added a team from last year's BCS pushed out UNC.

All the big SEC schools have complaints about the schedule. GA & AU play eleven straight games without an off week this year. Of the eight SEC teams scheduled to play Alabama this year, the final six are set to have idle weeks before the game.

I can tell you that if Hammy gets his way then we will have been officially passed by Auburn and Arkansas AND Ole Miss for the weakest schedule in 2011. TN will be right on par with Miss St. and KY :realmad:

I actually applaud the move. I would have loved to have played unc though, but why make our road to the bowl season any harder than it has to be. I'm SICK & TIRED of playing tough games when the Florida, & bamas of the wrorld played Charleston Southern, and LA Monroe.

Who cares we still play Fla, Ala, Ga, and Sc. I could care less if we play unc in the near future or any other time. Playing them will not build our program and not playing them will not destroy it. Let’s beat the teams mentioned above and we can say we have done something, playing and beating or losing to Unc does not get us to sec championship. I really dont see where we have anything to gain by playing them, I for one am glad to get one more home game

Butch Davis has made a dangerous product east of Knoxville. They are talented enough to compete with many teams, but as they are NC they get little credit for the fear they drive before them. Therfore they are a risk that cant be explained or justified...just denied.

You're right about one thing: Kiffin would never PUBLICLY pu$$ out on this game. He'd pull the strings to make the schedule change behind the scenes, and place the blame somewhere else (like a "scheduling conflict").

He's a snake, and he's gone...

ESPN cares, You don't get on National TV by playing cupcake teams. TN really needs the recruiting exposure more than it needs a guaranteed win.

Agreed, who gives a flying crap... Let's worry about this season instead of next please... Dooley's not getting paid the big bucks for nothing. I'm sure he had a good reason, and he doesnt owe an explanation to anyone, especially not the ppl on this site.
