Dooley's idea???

I think this was a very smart move by CDD, or MH or whoever did it. Why risk our players getting hurt so early in the season? We always play FL the 3rd game, and we all know that they play creampuffs before they play us, and this only helps them imo, because by the time they play us they know their playbook pretty well, we don't really know what their offense looks like, and all of their players are well rested and healthy. Why don't we try doing the same thing? It seems to work for them.

+1. Only Cincy won't be a creampuff. We won't be able to go Vanilla on them most likely. It's going to be interesting to see how much they drop off.

Yeah, and it's real obvious that Kiffin and that entire staff gave a flying crap about our players and our program isn't it?

This at least protects them and gives them some confidence going into the toughest stretch of games they will have. No player would be happy about them taking out UAB this year and sticking Ohio State in. We just don't need the extra bruising and possible injury when you can see our depth is hurting (and while it will be better next year, it'll still be not back yet).

It's a smart move towards the betterment of this program.

Kiffin couldn't give a rodent's behind about anyone other than himself. He ran his mouth but never backed up anything that he said.

Speak for yourself... I save getting my panties in a wad for much more important things..

Edit: pardon me if I misunderstood your post

I'm trying to say it's just not worth complaining about, whether it's us switching UNC to Buffalo, OR if Florida decides to add Charleston Southern again sometime soon. We do tend to play good OOC opponents in many cases, but there is no reason for people to meltdown over this.

I like to play good teams as much as anyone, but I also like to see my favorite team win football games. We *can* beat UNC, but we *definitely should* beat Buffalo.

According to Larry (LWSVOL), Kiffin and Fulmer tried to get Hamilton to drop the UNC game. Larry doesn't say stuff that isn't true. So, your post is wrong, and Kiffin is an arrogant arse and could care less about anyone but himself.

I don't see any of the national media saying anything negative about this...

It's a very reasonable move.

Absolutely agree. Why so much whining?

This is a simple business decision. UT makes millions on every home game. We need that capital in order to build better faciltities and attract the best players. It's not like we need UNC in order to play a tough schedule. I never heard Florida fans complaining their schedule was too easy when winning two national championships.

Bad move by Dooley. What kind of message does this send the players?

This is not L.T. in order for Dooley to show he is a good coach you have to outcoach "better teams". "Schedule is brutal", Tough **** coach em through it. "we will 9 games" I would rather win 8 games playing quality opponents as opposed to 9 against cupcakes.

Flame me all you want, I am typically very positive and supportive. But a move like this is a kick in the balls to me, imagine how the players feel.

He sure did care about these players , thats why hes no longer at UT. He didnt care about nothing or nobody except himself.

It was suggested by Clay, Brent & Blaine, and to a lesser extent inferred by MH, during his interview on 104.5 that CDD was instrumental in the decision to drop UNC.

If this is true, shame on you Dooley. I realize that the situation on the hill is not ideal but you knew that going in.

UT football gets yet another proverbial kick to the groin with this move only this time its not the players embarrassing themselves and the university, its our own AD and HC.

I've stood up for CDD a ton, but (again) if this is true, I won't--he deserves to be called out for this.

STFU!! I heard that interview and I didn't get that from it! F--- UNC as well,we just wanted to delay the series one year (because we have lost about 150 players in the last two years and our schedule is brutal) and those pu----- wouldn't move. That game would have helped them a 1000 times more than a game against a cheatin azz ACC middle of the pack dweller would have helped us! So, whether it was Hammy or CDD or both I don't give a crap, good decision!!! GO VOLS,I HOPE CDD Doesn't miss the OP's support, lmfao!!!!

Apparently Kiffin wanted out of the game too.

I'm not sure he wouldn't p--- out considering he left a "challenge" in K'ville for a cakewalk in LA.... and yeah, he believed in UT's players so much that he talked constantly about how deficient they were and how UT wouldn't be any good until he got his players in. There's truth in that but it precludes your delusion that he "believed" in the current players... HE didn't.

I can't believe that is still being discussed. Maybe I'm missing something but, it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Hell, It's almost football time. Who really cares about something like this?

When I get an email offering the opportunity to buy extra Florida and Alabama tickets, I know that the financial status of the FB/athletic program is not where it needs to be. adding an eighth home game makes some sense in that regard.

I don't like backing out of a game, but it is better for the program since ut does play in sec. Being on the road at Florida and Alabama that year is brutal enough. Dooley was a lawyer. He is probably smarter than all of us and using all the tools he can to his advantage.

i think this is a smart thing he did acually. you all are out of your mind wanting to play USC and North Carolina and teams like that when we already have the toughest conference games in the country. i mean to be able to rebuild and build momentem on the recruiting trail ya gotta win... and playing alabama florida gerogia LSU arkansas etc...is not going to help with a winning season playing them and then also losing our out of conference games. florida plays their sec games and then plays cupcakes and guess what...they do ok...lets get some easy games so we can acually win some next year cuz i hate to break it to you...its going to take AWILE to rebuild tenn the way we want it..

My biggest problem with this is the timing. If, in fact Hamilton, Fulmer, & Kiffin had a problem with the schedule in '11 then it should have been changed much sooner.

By postponing or procrastinating until now, when the football program is the worst shape its been in for the last _____ years, creates an image of our AD and Coach running from a fight.

You can call it smart or being tactical or a good way to build momentum heading into a rough SEC schedule and you might be right with any of those--but its also backing down.

Hamilton is probably feeling some heat and insuring that Dooley has the quickest path for success. I was mad for about two seconds. Now I'm done.
