Dooley's future at UT (merged)

Let's be real. Tennessee is never winning another national title. Quite simply, our state doesn't have the talent base to be a real player within the Southeastern Conference and, as such, nationally. We could hire the best coach on the planet and Tennessee would be looking at 9 win seasons as a high point.

Wrong. Tennessee can and will be back on top, it's only a matter of when.

We are never going to be any good as long as he is coaching us. He's a freakin' loser !!!

If you want to blame someone for the state of Tennessee football, it falls squarely on Fulmers shoulders. His last three recruiting classes were not on the caliber of his previous ones. It cost him his job. Bring in Kiffin, one season, his recruits, be it they had plenty of stars, where are they now? Dooley came in to a program that had fallen to the depths of Kentucky and Vandy. This program is in a lot better shape than it was three years ago, and that is Dooley's doing, however, we still need a little more depth and one more good recruiting class should resolve that. Why do so many people think we should be national champs this year? They are dillusional. If they are successful in getting Dooley fired, write it down, five years from now we will be the cellar dwellers in the SEC for years to come. If you don't support the program thru the tough times, gtfo and find a program that can fulfill you need for instant gratification. One more thing: all Vol, all the time, all in! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dooley just isn't the caliber of coach that you need to win in this league. Fact is he should have been fired after the Kentucky game last year.

I agree that we are in way better shape than we were 3 years ago, no doubt. But this argument that if Dooley is fired we go into the wilderness is absolute garbage!

Within four hours we have access to as much talent as Alabama. They were down for ten years pretty much and people said they would never get back. They hired Shula who was their Dooley then got smart and hired a real coach after that failure. We just need a winning coach, not a cheap loser.

This old crap about PF is really getting tiresome and sounding stupid 4 years later. You sound like Obama.

If Phil and Chief had had this 4 years to rebuild, they would have done much better. But no, a bunch of idiots out there thought we should win the SEC every 2-3 years. So here we are now, lucky to get a few 4 star players. Look at the recruits going to, uga, bamba, florida, gamedicks, etc. We get the leftover recruits after those schools take theirs. We will not improve until we hire coaches that the best players want to play for. You gotta spend money, then you might get a Gruden.

There is a lot of truth to this post.. This is why if they make another hire soon it has to be the right one. Either that or just keep Dooley. Hiring another coach in waiting or this guy might be good, just won't cut it at this point...

Got to beat Akron....want be easy. VOLS ripe for a big fall. Dooley is a baby, The ball spike of Tyler's sideline pass says it all:eek:

Before tonight, I was with you. I believed. I just knew deep down that you were hamstung by a lack of talent the first two years and this was your break-out year.

But now I realize that you do not know how to prepare your players and bring them out of the half-time locker room ready to play.

So, who is UT's coach next year?

Last night wasn't a Dooley problem. For some reason or another UT just cant beat Florida anymore. Losing 8 in a row sucks, but what really sucks is that the gators have had a stranglehold on there series for 20 years now! Even having Manning on the team counldn't beat them.:banghead2:

no one on here expected a national championship
we do expect to beat someone in the SEC other than Vandy though

VN =A nation divided. (?) :ermm:

It really seems to me that the fans are really starting to become more unified. With every passing day and every embarrassing loss, more and more of the sheep are FINALLY starting to see Dooley for the unqualified coach that he is. He seems like a good guy, he just has no business coaching at this level.

i would but there's no point. We keep rehashing the same thing. Don't know what it's going to take but obviously we all know that we can't continue to go down the same road that we are on. Petrino may be our guy. I'm not ready to throw in the towel but we all know that we are making a mockery of our program. I'm an alum and I remember the glory days when we were respected as a team. I have given the rebuilding years the benefit of the doubt and kept my season tickets while other sec teams that didn't have the program, rich in history and tradition, that we have had. I am ready to return to the glory days of old. Call me a romantic, but I remember better times. Would like to see them return and don't know what it's going to take. Just hate to see so much talent go to waste. Liked Dooley from the start but just don't think he is the guy for the job.
