Dooley's future at UT (merged)

Bray quit on the team but that all is under Dooley's umbrella. I think we just need one great running back and we could be dominant with this team...maybe next year we still have one year left with this core!

Lol next year without hunter and Cordarelle we will be worse

He has to do something like go 9-3 to end the year to keep his job.

I originally didn't think this was a huge loss, but the way Tennessee just collapsed in the second half leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

We need dough... Which we don't have anymore after being $4M in the Red after all the articles reporting so... We cannot afford to hire a high profile coach while paying the buyout of Dooley. Reminder, no one wanted this program after Kiffin left (actually Kiffin was not the first choice, no one wanted the program after Fulmer)... Who in their right mind would want to coach this team? Glad Dooley will be around next year...

Haslam says hi

Before tonight, I was with you. I believed. I just knew deep down that you were hamstung by a lack of talent the first two years and this was your break-out year.

But now I realize that you do not know how to prepare your players and bring them out of the half-time locker room ready to play.

So, who is UT's coach next year?

I totally i agree. were they all sleeping at halve time

So sick of reading this crap. There are schools all over the country hiring new coaches every year but for some reason there is noway anyone would come to Tennessee? Thats just ridiculous!!! No we are not going to get a Saban, Gruden, Bill Cowher or any of those crazy names people throw out but there are plenty of great up and coming coaches at smaller schools that would love to be at Tennesee. Nothing wrong with making a hire like that the problem with Dooley was that he never proved he could be a winning head coach at any level.

ps. I like Dooley and think he has put the pieces in place for us to be successful but I just don't believe in his coaching ability enough to get it done.

This thread is total BS.

Dooley put the pieces together. We all knew it would be at least 4 years before we were solid again. Why people on this board lose all sanity when we lose is beyond me.

Regardless of tonight's outcome, we were optimistic because we know we're CLOSE to being back to consistent competitors!!

Yes, I hate how pass-happy we get at times. Yes, I hate how our team seems to give up when we're down big. But if you think firing CJC is gonna make us better next season and yet another HC change is gonna improve team chemistry and morale, you're delusional.

We're still 2-1, and will be 3-1 heading into UGA. We should be well-settled into our defense and new players will be integrated in our offense by then, making us more competitive as we get into the thick of our schedule.

Have some faith...it's still early. GO VOLS!!

Bray sucked .. I still want to like Dooley but totally agree it is now apparent he can not motivate the team at halftime to continue the momentum.

We answered their score in the 3rd.
Our starters are as good as theirs. Our backups are not. They can rotate we cant.

Big hit for Dooley. We should have won this won, up 20-13. Then, true to form, we *****ed it away.

I like Dooley, but he isn't the guy. Bray has no sack. We are what we've become, a 6-6 program.

Welcome to reality, Dooley supporters. You can't support a coach when it does a disservice to your university and your players. That's not loyalty - it's blindness. He's done...we'll just have to wait it out now.

His teams display a single shared trait - no mental toughness and a propensity to fold when the pressure is on. Well, Dooley, it's time to fold.

That cuts to the chase about clear as you can put it.]

He field the better team with more or less 2 weeks to prepare for UF and got it handed to him. Its really that simple.

We have lost 2 games out of our last 4 when we fielded the better team.

Yes it's dooleys fault that bray and the D played like middle schoolers.

brb I have to attend a mattress burning ceremony

So what blame goes to the head coach? It was a poor performance so it's somebody's fault. People who don't believe in accountability are pathetic.

The fail is heavy in this thread. UT lost to a team ranked higher yet its time to replace the coach? Stay moronic VN.

I agree the OC and DC play calling were suspect. You don't put this one one Dooley.

you're missing the point. the gators are down this year. they were last year. they were no great shakes the year before that. this was dooley's last chance to beat them. in case you missed it tonight, they have a boatload of young talent. next year's game is in the swamp. unless muschamp's heart is soft as his head, its likely to be another spurrier type beatdown. hopefully, we won't be able to blame dooley next year, assuming he's doing color on espn14.

Ok, while I admire your passion... Who stepped to the plate after Fulmer was let go... Ok, next let me ask you who stepped to the plate after Kiffin left with 3 weeks left before signing day... Apparently we threw a ton of dough at a lot of high profile dudes... Tenn is NOT an easy gig with recruiting. Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you.

None. It's never Dooley's fault. It's always Jim Chaney's fault, or it's always Mike Hamilton's fault, or it's Dave Hart's fault. No wait, it's Tyler Bray's fault. No wait, it's the fans fault for going quiet in the 4th quarter when they saw the collapse ensuing.

This is the first time I have read "four years" on VN. All I have ever seen is three years. Heck, even the non-Volunteer sports media pegged this year as his make-or-break. So far, it is a break.

I suppose we can be glad that we know how to win outside of the conference. As long as we avoid the Michigans and Utahs of the world.

If you don't lay that rotten egg at the head coach's feet, when do you? After scoring in the third we were out scored 24-0 and gave up over 200 yards rushing. The QB and offense quit, and the defense looked like Arkansas' defense. What game did you watch?

He can beat Bama and Georgia and South Carolina. He won't keep his job.

i have to think if he does not beat georgia or bama he is gone, how many years do we have to lose to them for him to go. the way we looked tonight we will not beat either of those two.

we may win the rest and think we are back but come we have to beat florida georgia or bama to be in the hunt for the championship, if we keep losing to them there is no way we are back where we need to be.

i need to stop right now i guess i am just pissed, but this is 8 damn years and it does not look good for next year or the year after we may be better but damn it florida is better to, they beat us 10 last year and what 17 this year and it could have been more.

i just need to shut up and cool down.

i do not settle for a 9-3 record if we lose to georgia and bama

spend some damn money and get a coach who has won a championship in something and bring us back where we need to be.it will not be that hard trust me.

we need to beat georgia or bama for me to change my mind, we can beat everyone else but if we do not beat one of them we are no where we need to be at this stage.

the season is not over but damnnnnn that suckedddddddd

Totally agree had we lost by a touchdown or less it would have sucked for us as fans but at least to recruits they would still see the atmosphere at the stadium and leave thinking Tennessee is right there again. Instead they leave thinking we are just the same old Tennessee and probably wondering if Dooley will even be here. One thing is for sure the other SEC coaches just got reloaded on their Dooley will be fired recruiting pitch.
