if there is no press conference tomorrow and the decision is held until the end of the season then Hart is a complete FOOL!! he knows he cant wait much longer to get a big name coach in place and he needs to do it NOW before all the good coaches are taken!!!! GBO!!!!!!

Did no one tell you ? Gruden has already signed a "memorandum of understanding " the staff is to be fired , no later , than November . HCJG has already assembled his new staff .:clapping:

I'm not sure how many of you on here have ever coached anyone or any teams. I have coached about 10 teams in basketball, football and soccer. Some of my teams have gone undefeated. Some (like the one I just coached in soccer) went 1-4-3(ties).

Coaches coach and players play. The teams I've had that went undefeated were made up of "equals". No one was the big shot, "star", etc. Everyone pulled on the same rope in the same direction. Teams that faltered, had 2-3 "stars" who played for themselves.

"Star" - J Hunter
"Equal" - Z Rogers

We need more Z Ros on the team and less "stars". Dooley is doing all he can, but coaches coach and players play.

This may all sound like a clique, but it is true. What helps a team full of "stars" is to have "stars" 2 deep on the depth chart. That depth keeps the 1st teamers honest. Dooley doesn't have 2-deep.

i think we just need better coaches. like the ones that can get the most out of players and the kind of coaches that knows how to handle the star players.we have coaches but can they really coach ?

Our fans need to have a little more respect for people who have given more of their lives to the university then they ever could in 3 lifetimes...

I really like this part and agree with this 110%. People are acting like Dooley is the enemy. He has busted his rear to get us where we are and should not be treated by the fans the way he is. 2 years ago we couldn't put up more than 20 points a game, last year we had no running game, we had no return game, etc. Yes, the defense stinks, but the more I think about it Dooley has us going in the right direction. He will get this turned around and I hope people can take a step back to look at this objectively. He's right when he says that this is the first year we've been able to compete with the rest of the SEC. We've had a lot of bad breaks, way more than any other team I have ever witnessed, and there have been a ton of coaching issues, but he has ironed most of them on the offensive side and I have no doubt he will get them fixed on the defensive side as well. I would hate for him to not get the credit he deserves for building us back into a powerhouse, because that's exactly what is happening. It won't happen this year, but it will be soon and it will be amazing for those of us that support the team through the ups and downs.

I agree 100%.

I am equal parts ashamed, embarrassed, angry and pi$$ed off at the team's performance, but Dooley has raised the talent level (in most respects) to where the team can compete in the SEC, while under a great degree of negative recruiting (against UT) and a great deal of uncertainty about his status.

He's built a heck of an offense, has re-built the offensive line and the running game, and has a legit shot to land 4-5 premium players in this recruiting class in M. North, D. Green, T. Johnson & V. Bell.

Again, all of this while he's essentially been under a cloud of negativity the last two years.

I see progress and I see a lot of positive things that have been buttoned up. Obviously, not every thing has come together yet.

The defense is a disaster. I have no idea why a scheme change was attempted in a year that was so critical to his job.

I think he gets/needs one more year. I don't know that he's the long-term answer but I think a change now, unless it's a home-run hire, will just continue this crappy cycle.

"So you're saying we need more players with Z.Rogers level of talent and less like J.Hunter?? I'll just disagree here".

Disagree all you want - that is what forums are for.

Just recognize the "law of unintended consequences". When someone comes in and believes they're bigger than the program (Da Idiot, B Brown, J Jackson, etc. etc..) or are simply playing for themselves (as is the case for JH IMO), I'd rather have more people on the team like Z Ro as he "gives his all for Tennessee" than JH whose draft status seems to dominate his thinking - especially in critical situations like the long-ball yesterday that was wrestled away at the end by a DB who is 1/2 foot shorter than he is.

Answer me honestly, do you think JH would have made the catch that Z Ro made that pulled UT to 35 - a toe dragger in the endzone which practically ended in him doing the "splits" after the catch? I. Don't. Think. So.

Great Post!! Finally, someone who can see the bigger picture. When you are building something from the ground up, it can't be expected to become a finished product in a short time. It seems like an eternity to some fans, the near-misses/ almost- wins, but it would be great if fans could just be supportive and go to enjoy the games just for the love of the game. I have watched UT football since Neyland was just a horseshoe and have seen great seasons and not-so-great seasons and yes, really bad seasons, but I can say that I have always supported the coach and not gone bezerk in calling for his head. CDD is trying to build this program with the integrity that it deserves. He has totally embraced the UT traditions and community of Knoxville. Let's face it, a man would have to totally have love for a program ( not just the money that he is making) to wear a pair of orange pants with Big Orange pride. I believe he has put his whole heart into this and as the pieces of the puzzle fall into place..we will eventually be back into a place of prominence. It breaks my heart to hear of all the bashing and division that is going on ( it is also embarrassing as well to have to admit to having fans such as this). Negativity breeds negative results and optimism + patience will yield positive results.

Dude is so MAD. I guess I should just stick with making posts about baseless rumors...wouldn't want to ruffle any more feathers with entirely harmless opinion-based posts

mad? In what way am I mad?

I made a simple post saying people see what they want to see..

You quoted and asked me to elaborate.

Next time don't ask and I wont have to point out how bad its gotten around here.

There is a big difference in thinking its time for a coach to move on and taking any and every opportunity to try and bash him, even when its completely unfounded like the OP.

There are plenty of things you can say about the man and be 100% correct..

And then there is this garbage.. sorry if it sounds harsh or like I am mad.

But the bashing needs to stop, lets at least treat the man with respect as he moves on with his life.

You guys are dreaming about DD leaving. Hart said he needed to see improvement this year. We have been a lot better and competitive on offense. Defense is another subject but we only got drilled by Bama.

Gruden stories are comical, too. DD is frustrated and that is what you saw yesterday. Plain and simple.

GO VOLS!!

This is great JH is nowhere near the player that Zach R is. Zach R makes plays JH just makes a few plays to get by.

I saw someone who was disappointed and frustrated.

Its possible he knows its over, but a deer in headlights? The man is far from confused.

Say what you want about his coaching, bad luck, lack of connection with certain players.

But he is no where near confused, or stupid, or overwhelmed. Those statements are from rednecks who get confused trying to merge into traffic getting on I40.

And then feel like they have the right to rip on a coach because they watch the games for free on their TV and inherited a UT shirt from their daddy when he died from liver failure because he couldn't stay away from that "shine"..

Not defending his coaching/results by any means.. but to try and knock on his intelligence in any way is retardation. Which is exactly what saying he is a deer in headlights is implying.

Our fans need to have a little more respect for people who have given more of their lives to the university then they ever could in 3 lifetimes...

Alcoholism and mental retardation are no joke. They have a profound effect on the individuals and families who have to live with either. While urging others to show respect, I would encourage you to do the same.

I agree that I probably should leave retardation out of it..

I apologize to anyone that deals with mental disabilities etc.. it was not my intention to offend those people.

Agree....and for some puzzeling reason, I cannot understand why he is letting this joke of a secondary to go on without intervention (change the coaches back there....they are lost). Chaney seemed to have gotten a message and his game plans seem much better. But CDD is not helping him effort by letting the misery continue in the secondary.

You thought I was bashing him? Apparently we both misunderstood each others' posts. That part at the end was a sarcastic joke. Anyway, I agree there is alot of bashing on these boards lately directed towards dooley as well as fellow members (just look at the jabari greer thread, that guy was eaten alive). I'm new here, so maybe this is the norm...not sure

Sounds like somebody has a little man crush on Dooley and getting upset. I'm sure after he's gone ya'll can keep in touch. You never know..maybe he is headed towards a high school near you!

Sounds like your the person I was describing in that post.. did it hit a little to close to home, so you decided to try and make a funny?

It was a cute try, but ultimately a fail. Thinking someone deserves some respect for the things he did do for the University instead of constant bashing by idiots is a far cry from a man crush.
