I'm definitely in. I do not know yet if Dooley will be our coach for the next 20 years; however I have loved going through this year without any major headlines about robbings, bar beatings, arrest avoidance, drug use, etc... He is establishing a program around the university which will make us all proud of our alma mater.
In addition, anyone with half a brain would/should know this year's team had no chance for success. I actually expected a loss to Cincy and Vandy this year. Yes...the Kentucky loss sucked. I have family and friends in Lexington, and I'm having to hear a lot of crap. But in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. No more pressure to keep the "streak" alive, plus a slap in the face for all the youngsters so they understand that we can't just show up and win a game, just because we are UT. I wish our fans could learn that same lesson.
I think what he is building looks special. I think with the right support, including assistants, Dooley is smart enough to lead this program back to our glory years. However it won't happen overnight, and it will come with growing pains. If we wanted more of the same, we should have kept Fulmer. We now must live through a regime change, and it will take more than 1 full year of recruits.
