Dooley.....

It's definitely hard to determine b/c you don't know how much was inferior talent and how much was poor playcalling. I didn't see much over the middle of the field at all in passing. I was hoping that we could hit some slants across the middle. It seemed like most of Simms' passes were on a standard post pattern. It's hard to get into any rhythm with those kind of throws.

Poole had some holes that a mack truck could've driven through in the first quarter so I guess that's positive although that quickly was shut off when their DC realized Simms couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. We'll see, but I guess I'm just a little astounded at people's love for Dooley after little evidence of anything.
Watching it, I think it's mostly inferior talent. I would have liked to see more over the middle too, but I don't think they trust the young receivers to do it yet. That's where not having Gerald Jones really hurt. I also think they don't really trust Simms to throw over the middle because he sometimes lets the ball sail, which over the middle will get you killed.

Honestly, I thought we were playing exactly the way we needed to in the first half.... and then came the second half.

Tauren Poole is an absolute beast of a running back. I just can't understand why we got away from the run so much. I understand we have to throw the ball to keep the defense honest and not become one-dimensional, but good lord. Oh, and missed tackles..

However, I am optimistic about our future. O=Line looked impressive early. Give them time, and they will be an awesome unit. Justin Hunter and Da'Rick looked good when the were involved. Dooley is growing on me more each day. I liked the hire initially, but I am starting to buy into the way he is going about building us back up.

A couple more good recruiting classes, and we're right back in the mix. Just give our young talent time.

The coach's show is on now if anyone wants to know what Dooley thinks. So far he said the team did not handle adversity well.

I agree, but he MIGHT get better as the year goes on.

You really honestly believe he might? Not a loaded question. Just asking. I myself believe that a guy whose a Junior is pretty much who he is ... Brett Favre without any aim.

I am trying to be optimistic......

Reality is I think Bray should be taking the lumps with the rest of the young guys.

I waited 6 years for CPF to be fired. I then waited one more year to get to this point. I'm sick of waiting. It's been a freak'n decade since we were good. Not great. Good. Clinton was still in office for God sake's.

I don't care about our future if we can't even handle the present. I may be too young to remember Tennessee at its best, but I expect a win every game, no matter who we're playing, and today we played like crap.

Then you, my friend, are in for a long couple of football seasons.

Nothing to discern regarding Dooley's in-game coaching ability from this game. We will see how he does against teams that are on par with the Vols talent.

My biggest concern was why weren't we hitting the QB everytime to make him not want to run with the ball? That inside option killed us as much as as anything else. We are young and we will get better.
Go Vols!

I think any reasonable fan knew this was coming...I don't think we wanted to let ourselves think our team would lose 48-13 at home, I knew i didn't, but we knew there was the potential for it....The first 3/4 of the first half sure seemed like old times...The crowd was great and the Vols were running the ball at will and winning...It was just like Dooley said there at the end of the first half...His team played "dumb football"...That's where their youth started showing..Dooley was right to say he needed to throw the ball...I always yell at the TV to throw the ball over the middle...I don't remember seeing one...Did anyone else think Stocker let up on his route on that ball Simms threw to him ??...Maybe it was just way overthrown...Moore dropped another important catch there in the first quarter..I haven't seen this mentioned but how much do you think Jones not playing bothered Simms??...Those two seemed to be on the same page...Really, the only thing Dooley did that I questioned is why he didn't go ahead and get those points in the first half instead of going for it...It would have been 16-13 Vols at half had Lincoln kicked his third FG...I think Poole played a great game but he was starting to get stopped and the Vols had to open the offense up some...That pick 6 killed any chance the Vols had to make this thing really interesting heading into the 4th quarter...Looked like Hunter was open on the play but I doubt Simms saw him with that Duck all in his grille..Should have just taken the sack I guess...The punt return was ugly and they almost broke a couple of kick-off returns..The Vols need to get that fixed...No depth, it's a killer when you don't have it and the Vols just don't have it...I know we all want to win NOW but it just isn't going to happen...If the Vols can get to 6 wins and a bowl I'll be happy...I hate saying that but it's the reality of the situation...

Dooley was outclassed in this contest. Here are my concerns thought nDooley was suppose to be a real special teams guru and thought he loved using the tight end in our offensive scheme. Let's see we have no coverage and Stocker has been missing in action and don't get me started about our kicking game. Dooley has managed to take an All American in Stocker and make him irrelevant. He can't recruit and can't coach, two and done, no koolaide here.

And Simms only being able to make one read and not being a very good QB has nothing to do with Stocker not getting the ball.

And the lack of Depth Dooley inherited has nothing to do with the Special Teams failures.

And Daniel Lincoln didn't make that 48 yd FG and another good kick last night.

And Dooley didn't manage to salvage a top 10 recruiting class after Kiffin left.

And we didn't hold the #7 team with what could be the best offense in the country to a 13 pt first half.

Add that Dooley cannot actually catch the ball for Stocker when a ball hits his hands. I am thinking plain dumb as well

WHAT????? HE CAN'T

Fire Dooley, if he can't catch the passes for the receivers he doesn't deserve to be here!!!

The tight-ends were open on multiple plays. Its the Qb job to hit the open player, not the coaches. Simms is not playing well, whether he adjusts or not remains to be seen, so far its keeping our offense one dimensional.

I believe by the time all of these freshman are juniors or seniors we will really be competing in the SEC again. The only way to improve is to gain experience, and that has to be done on the field. Players, coaches, half of volnation's bandwagon fans:crazy: ect.
