Dooley, Wilcox, & Simms All Need To Go

The UGA game was nothing more than a hangover from LSU. I don't believe Dooley is the guy for the job but I also do not believe we can judge him before he gets an opportunity to apply his players and depth to the program. I really hope I'm wrong about him but I was upset when he was hired and still feel as though he's a B-List hire.

Youth, 3 systems in 3 years, lack of size to control line of scrimmage, and lack of depth are the issues. Give this staff time. We'll be fine.

Wilcox may indeed be in over his head.I bought into the Boy Wonder of defense propaganda. I know he has personel issues but it seems to go beyond that. Maybe its like Dave Clawson and it takes his system a few years to catch on.

Really? Girlfriend issues or what? That must be you in y:crazy:eek:ur avatar!

Love him or hate him, Dooley is our coach for 4 years minimum. I will hold out judgment on Dooley until he loses with the same type of talent that Phil Fulmer lost with. Our football program did not get in this bad of shape overnight and will not get out of this overnight. Let Dooley get his players and his system in and then judge him. It is not fair to Dooley or Wilcox or Chaney to judge them on the talent we have right now.
I could see him being gone in 3 if the next two years are really bad.

Relax, go see a doc, ask for something to relax you. ( xanax 1.0's) Although don't mention the number, as that'll raise suspiscion.

If this year is an indicator, then we're going to suck this bad for the next three years after this. Great.

I for one hope that it can only get better. I don't see how it can get much worse.

(CDD) was a protege of Saban who never really had any topflight responsibility on Saban's college staff at LSU

I guess Nick Satan doesn't take recruiting seriously, then ...CDD was his recruiting coordinator at LSU.

Please, can we stop this?:stop:

This mindset is just foolish. He's doing the no more harm to the program by being negative than you are providing help by being positive. Ultimately the two of you, along with the rest of us at VN, have no real bearing on what goes on over there. We're just outsiders who observe what we see and discuss our opinions about what takes place. No football game has ever been won or lost because a fan was positive or negative about his team.

dude, my first paragraph was a bit of sarcasm. I guess you don't get that.

There are several things you aren't realizing. Did this program not put out feelers to several coaches and were turned down by alot of people? Also, why would Spurrier who was already in his 60's and ready to retire taken your job for a couple years when he had to of known he was going to have something at SC around this year? That's nonsense and he's virtually a washed up old man and a pitiful hire for 2009 anyway in the twilight of his career.

As far as the 10 men on the field for UAB for 3 plays in a row, that's sort of a head scratcher but it boils down to 1 player suppose to be on the field who was not on the field, being confused. Everyone, coaches included must of assumed he was in the game. Having 13 players on the field for LSU is a totally different set of circumstances that is quite possibly an "overcorrection" from the previous week. What Miles did was cost himself at least one extra offensive play. What likely happend was, They were sending in their run-goal line package and Tennessee's players were taught when x package goes in, our y package goes in. They weren't taught not to do it if the opposing coach is desperately and illogically subbing with no timeouts and a few seconds left in the game.

As far as the dynamic of the Dooley coaching hire you are not in a posistion right now to go out and name your coach b/c people like you have ridiculous expectations and you expect to get back to the level Fulmer had you, and soon. THAT AINT HAPPENING. It's not as attractive of a job as you think, it's more like a graveyard job. The coach who follows a legend historically doesn't survive. Give Dooley his time and get off his back. Who cares if he's learning on the job? At LaTech, you have no idea what the recruiting landscape is in that conference or how hard it is to win there. I don't give a shi+ what his record was at LaTech. He wasn't there long enough to build his program and you don't know what the talent was compared to the schedule, or their history was against that schedule compared to what he did.

Most of you armchair coordinators have to understand something. If you are the ones going to games, or watching on tv, watching nothing but where the ball goes after it's snapped, being critical of playcalling after any play that doesn't work, critical of a corner who gets burned when you only notice when he does get burned, critical of a quarterback when you don't understand the offensive scheme, what the OL or WR or RB's are doing, then you fall into that category of what I call a "novice" fan. A fan that doesn't know $hit about football but really thinks he has all the answers. Sit back and root for your team and who gives a $hit if you win or lose? One of these days you'll win a game. Get behind Dooley and forget all this bullshi+ of churning a head coach after each year b/c each time you do that you slip a little further into the abyss. Give him his 5 years and if he craps out, maybe you'll have an attractive job once again. No one wants to come in there and take a chance on getting fired after 2 years b/c they didn't win 11 games like Fulmer b/c of the fans stupid expecations.

Two longs don't make a right....

Wow, we are getting like the bammer homers down here calling for alabamas OC to be fired and a few falting Saban himself. It took SOS 5 years to turn SC around. Patience young grasshoppers!

I said it in another thread. We suck, get over it. This season we hit absolute rock bottom and no other coach in the nation could make this year any better. ( maybe other than the LSU game ) While I do agree that Dooley is in over his head we have to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him coach and recruit a few years, then make the necessary changes. GBO

Simms<Crompton Never thought that could happen, but its true.

Dooley has kept the players out of jail, and he needs time to fix the program.

The players aren't disciplined, but that will come.

Hamilton does a bad job, duh.

It will get better, but not for 2 years at the least.

Tyler Bray should start for the rest of the season because he needs the experience.

Go Vols!!!

Give Dooley time its not an overnight turn around. Three coaches in three years, low talent level, PLAYING IN THE SEC no coach would have been successful this season....

Well for you doom and gloomers, we just won the "C'mon Man" of the week on MNF for the aforementioned 7-3-3 defense at the end of the LSU game.

Dooley is clearly not the answer for our proud UT football program. Anyone who was at Athens today, as I was, witnessed an embarrassment from start to finish. Our team was clearly not prepared to play mentally. Our defense was toyed with. Simms continues to take sacks when he needs to throw it away. He has 23 sacks in the last 4 games. We had 9 net yards rushing against a team that had only one 1 game halfway into the season.

Lack of depth was not the reason we got behind 17-0 in the first quarter. Lack of mental preparedness lost this game. Turnovers are part of lack of mental discipline. We are not a well-coached team.

Our defensive schemes are bad. Why would you go with an all-out blitz on 2 & 10, as we did in this game, & FAIL to go with any blitz at all on 4th & 14 in the LSU game?

The learning curve for both Dooley & Wilcox from the WAC to the SEC is too great. Neither is capable of doing their jobs at this level. Neither is Simms. Bray, with all his shortcomings, has a much quicker release & has the potential to be just as accurate & good if he is given the coaching & playing time.

We need to sink or swim with Bray starting now. He is the future. We also need to be signing a topflight QB in this class. Wilcox needs to be canned at the end of the season or maybe even now. He is a failed experiment. Dooley will prove to be a mistake. We can't fire him now but he also will ultimately have to go, & sooner rather than later would be best for UT.

We are on our way to the worst season in Tennessee history. Central Florida crushed UAB, which we miraculously barely beat & needed an OT to do it, despite having only 10 men on the field 3 plays in a row as they were critically driving on us that we never noticed at all. (The referee pointed it out to Reveiz, who relayed it to the clueless coaches on the sideline & in the press box.) Our "7-3-3" defense at LSU has become a national laughingstock. Our coaches lost that game after our players overachieved & then failed to take sufficient blame for the loss, despite their 6-figure & 7-figure salaries of our money they're undeservedly taking.

Patience is a virtue, but patience won't cure incompetence. Dooley, Wilcox, & Simms weren't ready for prime time & probably will never be. Spurrier would've come to Tennessee when we hired Kiffin & also when we hired Dooley had we only seriously approached him. He is a REAL coach, as he proved today. If he had UT's resources, he would've far exceeded his accomplishments at SC. Certainly he would've come when he left the NFL, which is when we should've replaced Fulmer.

Tennessee has never lost 8 games in a season. We will struggle to avoid that fate this year. The way we're playing, Memphis will make their season & beat us on their field. We are running the extreme risk of going 2-10. We have sufficient talent to win all of our November games, but it is doubtful we will, & it is now virtually impossible for us to win any of our October games. We are irrelevant not only nationally but in our own division of our league at a time that Florida has their worst team in 2 decades.

Had we not rescued Dooley & hired him, he would've been let go after another underachieving season at Louisiana Tech. Had we not rescued & hired Kiffin, he would probably be unemployed now. We kept Fulmer at least 3 seasons too long & maybe as many as 7 seasons too long.

Maybe our new UT president that will be named by the end of this month will fix this mess & start by firing our AD that has made all of these unwise moves, including hiring maybe the worst baseball coaches in the SEC.

Dooley's only resume is that he had a father who was a successful SEC coach in a bygone era, was a protege of Saban who never really had any topflight responsibility on Saban's college staff at LSU or pro staff at Miami, & was a mediocre coach at Louisiana Tech. How does that qualify him to be UT's coach? So far, it appears his hiring was a desperation mistake.

go ahead and slice your wrists....it's all gloom and doom
