Dooley was always a 3 yr coach

Good thread. Found a few more guys to stick on my ignore list, including this webbsticles fellow.

Dooley will be fine. He never was intended to be a 3 year coach. He was intended to come in, clean up the program, recruit top notch talent and put us back on the road to winning championships. Everything I see tells me he's got us headed down that path. Players seem to like him, he did a great job recruiting replacement coaches this offseason and he has a pretty good stock of talent coming back next year on both sides of the ball. We're good to go, IMO. Go Vols!

The list of successful coaches at La Tech is very short. Dooley's legal background also helped him immensley getting a great buyout in his contract in his favor. What if the team gets a season of the LSU too many plyers on the field game without too many players on the field?

That, or a season of the Cincinnatti game. Or maybe a season of both.

Oh noez! Not the ignore list! How will I ever survive?

Posters who flaunt their ignore lists because of differing opinions are half a step above Bama trolls, IMO, with roughly the same mental capacity.

A- How can you promise that? Dooley would have to have a 10+ win season to get a contract extension, IMO

B- It's been a recurring theme in Dooley's tenure that after halftime our team falls apart. Is some of this because of depth? Yes. Is some due to youth? Of course. Is some due to lack of adjusting to the other team? Absolutely

C- Differing styles/ preferences

D- The upgraded part is pretty debatable.

A) we will...

B) OC/DC call for and make adjustments.. Offensively when we had our starters healthy, no one can argue with our success, Defensively I could agree a few more adjustments may have been called for in certain games.. As you can see, we replaced the guy responsible for that with a HUGE upgrade IMO.. Disagree if you want but it will show on the field(see point A)

C) who would want a coach that didn't demand perfection? how would you win the SEC or NC without getting pretty darn close to it?

D) Only debatable until point A comes to pass this year..

The point remains all of the dooley haters are going to be disappointed this year when we win 10 and he gets his extension, which is sad that some would like to see a team they "supposedly" are fans of lose just because they are unable to admit how wrong and uneducated they are with all of their arguments.

You can't judge any coach with half a roster going against a SEC schedule, to try is moronic.

The fact remains we have only lost 1 game in the past 2 years that we shouldn't have... I bet no coach that is considered great throughout history has ever had that happen to them.

In fact I challenge anyone to name a coach who has never lost to an underdog in their career

Again, how can you promise that? Even some of the most ardent supporters aren't calling for 10+ wins. I would love to see it, but how can you promise, without a doubt, that it will happen?

We also played mediocre to bad teams when we were fully healthy. And again, how can you be so sure that a DC, who hasn't held the position since the mid-90's, is a sure-fire upgrade over a proven, successful DC? Just because you state it so matter-a-factly doesn't make it true.

I personally think CSS will be a great DC, but there is no way to know that yet, and he may have some growing pains doing it, especially with establishing the 3-4.

C) who would want a coach that didn't demand perfection? how would you win the SEC or NC without getting pretty darn close to it?

It has nothing to do with striving for perfection but rather the perception inside the program. Of course you want a coach to strive towards perfection.

D) Only debatable until point A comes to pass this year..

So does it stay debatable if the team doesn't win 10+ next year? It is reasonable to have questions about the staff and to call ALL of them surefire upgrades is irresponsible. I think Jay Graham, Sal Sunseri, and Darin Hinshaw will be great coaches for us. A couple, Conklin and Ansley, there is no way to know because they are so new.

I am not expecting much from Pittman, Palermo, Coiner or Chaney. Those coaches have been nomads for a long time and it doesn't inspire much confidence.

I don't think any fan would be disappointed with a 10 win season. No one has that much desire to be "proven" right.

You can't judge any coach with half a roster going against a SEC schedule, to try is moronic.

You can't ONLY judge a coach in that manner. Wins and losses aren't everything.

But yes, you can't judge his record from over the past two years. That is why this upcoming season is so important for Dooley, not just for his career at UT, but for his coaching career in general.

I don't know why people keep bashing dooley? This is my view on it. 1st- He came into a program that was so messed up that we didn't even have 50 scholarship players, had three coaching changes in the a three year span, the youngest team in the ncaa, and no experience at almost any position! Yea he has not had a winning season YET but who would have? But since he has been here he has made a big difference in off the field things. We have not had an arrest in over 2yrs and that's big in its self! He is turning things around faster than I thought he would. I didn't think we would have the recruits he has got but people still bash him. I don't think you can even start to judge him until this year! Don't get me wrong I want Tennessee to win as much as anyone but really he is building something here and I believe its going to be special! Even if he does get fired, which I doubt, the next coach will come in and be set to win! So everyone can bash him as much as you want but in the end we will be special! That will be all thanks to CDD! I see him being confident for the first time since he has been here, I see the players walking with there heads held high for the first time in a long time, and I see how close we are to being really good! Only if it all comes together this year with the new coaches but with a whole off season to do so, I think it will! I want to thank you CDD for the bright future see! GO VOLS! VFL!

The same amount as Dooley.

So this is what you do during the basketball offseason? Attempt to bash our football coach. Im 100% sure CDD has coached on a championship program. Not quite the "same amount" as the message board assassin, zjcvols.

Sure hope DD gets it figured out we need to turn this thing around. It seems like he may have a great new staff. But lets face it they are all on the hot seat. Heres hoping what ever that magic win number is that they get there. Go Vols

You didn't specify by head coach or assistant coach, now did ya? I really don't care that Dooley was a RB coach and won a NC with the best coach in football since Saban assistants have done nothing as head coaches.

Our head coach? no thanks.

And yes, time to focus on football, right? Sorry if you have high expectations for the football team, but I sure as hell don't. That's your opinion.

I personally don't feel this staff is as good as the last two years. JMO though.

yeah cause you have over 100000 fans that go to the game so it would be impossible to believe that more than 2 people would get on this forum and complain about the worst coach we will ever see at ut. you doolaid drinking morons kill me.
