Dooley vs Franklin

I never thought I would see the day that so many UT fans except and are ok with average football at best, sometimes bad football. So many excuses.

We aren't ok with it. We just know the facts and have tempered expectations until Dooley has enough firepower to make a run. When that day comes we'll see how he.manages

guess we're even since I never thought I would see UT fans pumping up Vandy's close losses

It's a comparison of the coaching staffs, I can't stand Vandy and I don't like Franklin but he is doing a better job right now than Dooley is. Any one who argues that is blind.

Its not like we have steamrolled Vandy as of late. They seem to be playing better than last year; it should be a good measuring stick for where we are. Even with the wonderboy Bray we only won by 14. I use only since some like to put Vandy on the level of our ooc opponents.

Is LSU last year not a way better team than Arky this year?

North Carolina had 5 draft picks, last year i think, and have 3 projected to go in the first round this year and we were robbed against them.

Again, those almost win have to go both way if your going to play them, I guess Utah State's coach is a better coach than Spurrier.

What has Franky done?

You're confusing exceptance (sic) and average football with the reality of the situation.

Why aren't people in this thread pumping up Ole Miss' close loss to Arkansas? Doesn't that suggest to you all they are much improved from last year?

I see a difference in Vandy getting an almost win and UT getting an almost win. Guess this shows where this program is when so many of you do not see the difference.

What has Dooley done?

Well he has gotten our roster stocked and had our offense firing on all cylinders before Hunter went down. The Cinci blowout is looking better and better each week.

He saved a season last year that could of went down the drain to a bowl game and beat UNC. They made a rule change because we got robbed.

We have the youngest roster in the SEC and have had top play around 37 true freshmen the past 2 years and yet we are still competing.

Its still up in the air if he can take us to the promised land, but he is at least an average coach.

How is there a difference besides Dooley doing it with a much younger team than Franklin?

What has Dooley done?

Actually beaten a decent team this year? You know, when we had all of our weapons.

Well let's see Franklin hang with Arky, UGA and SC without their best QB, WR, LB and Safety. Oh and go ahead and take out the other safety- ours just tore his ACL. You think Franklin could coach his way into those games? Elon might have been a nailbiter...

So 6-7 is saving a season that could have went down the drain? I say 6-7 is a season down the drain.

If our roster is stacked then we should be better than 6-7 and whatever .500 or so record this season brings.

Our young guys should be way better than anyone Vandy has no matter how long they have been there

I wouldn't say the hung around with USCjr, it was 21-3 in the third quarter. Georgia had a comfortable lead to, they went into coast mode. So actually we are supposed to believe Franklin is the godsend of a coach because he lost a game that was close against an overrated Arky team

So last year it was youth and inexperience, this year is injuries and youth. A good coach can find a way to beat someone. Let me know when the excuses stop.

How good would Oklahoma be without Landry and Broyles? How about Bama without McCarron and Richardson? How about OSU without Weeden and Blackmon? Standford without Luck and Taylor?

I think LSU, and possibly Oregon are the only two teams I can point to that wouldn't be decimated if they lost their QB and best playmaker.

It's not really hard to grasp, guys.

What coach? Point to an example of a coach who has beaten someone this year without their Quarterback and top play maker.

Good point. So this is all over one game and maybe the scene after the UGA game?

Like i said before, this isn't NCAA football where you can just put players in positions and they will play great. We hardly have quality depth after 2 classes still and we are playing with sophomores and freshmen. It doesn't matter how talented the team is, they are young and it will take time.

Using your logic, FSU should be the best team in the nation because they had the number 1 class in the country.

Is Georgia not way more talented than Boise, Who won that game btw? Pretty comfortably too.

Boise St has beat OU and Georgia, you want to tell me Boise has better players than those teams? TCU beat Wisconsin last season, who has better players? Who did we beat with Bray and Hunter? Vandy, UK, Memphis, Buffalo, Montana.

Would Boise State had beaten Georgia without Moore? I think you know the answer. What about TCU without Dalton? Come on, man. Stay on point. You're acting as if losing your SEC leading quarterback and receiver is some BS "excuse."

Also in NCAA football the fans stay the whole game. They aren't worried about traffic and they always cheer loudly on 3rd downs esp in close games. Not sure what my point is but it's true :)

You heard it here first guys. Stanford would suffer no drop-off if Luck went down.Bama would be the same team without McCarron and Richardson. You guys are ridiculous.

Look at how many seniors TCU had on it last year, and look at TCU's record this year without them.

Same for Boise State, they have 18 upperclassmen this year starting. We had 5 against USCjr

I could understand Bama, to a point, because Lacy and Simms are both good players. Stanford has a terrible defense and they just found a running game which is probably due to having Luck. Without Luck, Stanford doesn't win 6 games.
