Dooley tried to lose to Kentucky?

Cats ran the ball down our throats 234 yds 56 attempts. Dooley was getting fired at the end of the season anyway. He was ready to go and not sure he cared enough about getting another W.

I’ve been told by someone who covered Tennessee back then that Dooley tried to quit after that game and Hart talked him out of it. If true, tanking that game makes sense. It was inexcusable to lose that game.

And also if true, Hart should’ve let him quit. We had a ton of offensive talent returning and could have used it to entice a good coach. It was obvious after 2 years that DD wasn’t going to get it done.

Imagine if Tennessee had hired Hugh Freeze (that was the year Ole Miss hired him) that year instead of another year with Dooley followed by Butch.
Dooley wanted out but he also wanted all his money. Hart told him “you can quit but you ain’t gettin paid”. If that’s talking him outta quitting I guess he did but Dooley isn’t tough enough to be a head coach.

Tennessee fans mostly hate Butch the most of our Big 3 losers. But for me it’s Dooley. By far. Butch put in effort. Dooley was an entitled loafer. He was lazy. I can respect failing with effort. Dooley failed with half ass effort then tried to quit.

Butch was a lying, snake oil salesman POS. I hate them both equally

It wouldn’t surprise me. Anyone who knows anything about how Dooley conducted himself as HC at UT beyond the comical quips at press conferences and looking like a fool on a stool knows he is actually a tremendous àsshole, and that’s the most charitable way to describe him.
He was an attorney, so it checks out lol

Which year is this? I remember the last Dooley show where you could visibly see that he was PO’d and PO’d at Bray. He also told Bray if he screwed up during the game he would bench him and, he sure enough did.

So, are the tweets about Dooley’s second or last year? If the tweets are related to Dooley’s third and last year, I could tell Bray and Company threw the game watching it on the TV.

Yeah I always suspected they did. That was a bad CanTurkey team even by their standards and it wasn't like they turned it on for us. Our offense wasn't trying at all.

Dooley was a Nepo baby. He was snobby, and all around weird guy. Don't like the guy but Butch was worse. he was used car salesman. My disdain for him is on another level. I hate to admit I love watching him stinking up in Jonesboro.

I'd argue he was a worse coach in game coach.
Compare their records. Butch was a better overall coach. Yes, he squandered talent, but at least he recruited talent to squander. Dooley just sucked all around. Couldn’t coach, couldn’t recruit, couldn’t hire assistants.

9 win seasons are better than 5 win seasons. Period. It’s true no matter how you get there.

Butch squandered talent like I didn't think was even possible. Dobbs is the reason he didn't have a worse record than Dooley
To be fair, it’s not like Dooley didn’t have a super talented QB in Bray.

Difference is, Kiffin left him Bray, while Butch actually recruited Dobbs.

I don’t think Dooley asked to quit. I think he asked to be fired so he could still collect some salary through a buyout.

Either way, it says a lot about him.

And I agree it woulda been much better to cut our losses right there.

MFer defines “born on 3rd base & thinks he hit a triple”.
