I know we are 1-2 right now but I must say I couldnt be prouder of my Vols.

Dooley has taken the youngest squad I have seen since I become a fan and has made them compeitive against two top ten teams. It is very excited to think about our future with him running the ship.

Dooley has that IT factor in my opinion. Give him a few years and I truly believe he will take us back to the top.

Here's to coach DD. I hope he are leading our Vols through the T for years to come.

You really can't say at this point, and I don't know if we'll be able to at the end of the year. We're so deficient in talent and depth it's hard to judge him.

I like him alot also,I believe he will be a very good coach after his recruiting gets underway! If we win 6 games this year,I believe he would be happy as I would, with what he has to work with!

Unless he does something about our horrible special teams he is doomed to be a short timer here.

Honestly the lack of talent and depth is why I am making this Judgment so soon. I wont lie I expected Florida even with all its problem on offense to take us to the wood shed. Oregon did but we had a real chance to win that game early.

Dooley still has to prove that he can bring in Top Talent, but he was able to hold last years class together and even snag a couple gems in the process.

I think if he is given the time he will become a truly great coach.

Are you really saying we were competative against Oregon? I like the fact that we didn't mail it in yesterday, but the jury is still out on DD. October is going to be brutal.

Dooley is a great fit for our program in my opinion as well he has class unlike kiffin, seems to embrace our traditions, and he is has some southern swagger which i like. He doesnt have a whole lot to work with this year but our young inexperienced is getting better. I can see that on the field. We have a long way to go but Dooley is leading us in the right direction. We must support him, because our program needs stability and he is a young coach with a bright future! Keep it up CDD!!!

...all I know is that I'm very interested to see what this young team (with all these frosh and sophomores) is going to look like 2 to 3 years from now.

We saw flashes against Uf but time and again the lack of talent and depth reared its ugly head. It's so hard to judge him at this point. It's just things he can't control.

Yeah I am suggesting that. I will absolutly concede that we withered in the second half, but with a young team if you make just a few mistakes it is hard to mentally recover.

Young teams are notorious for playing with either two much or not enough emotion. Game experience fixes that problem.

Hell we could have just as easily did that with Florida after that fake punt, but Dooley and his staff kept that from happening. Yes we lost but if was far from a blowout.

We're deficient in talent and depth because we've not been winning the last few years and it's been hard to recruit, and add to that the mess that Coach "X" left us in after the sissy bolted for U $ C, then well, there ya have it. I think there was a HUGE improvement with competitiveness and the "don't quit" attitude between this game and the Oregon game. The biggest difference IMO is that Oregon would also beat Florida by 20 points at least. Oregon is just that good. Florida is not as good as they have been.

Agree, but. I think instead of judging him on not having talent, we should judge him and what he is doing with the talent he has. And yes we have 2 losses and no i dont believe in moral victories, but his passion for what Tennessee represents, his drive, character. It all makes me believe we have made the right choice. I am behind him 100%.

Future is bright. Our young inexperienced team will be battle hardened veterans next year and in particular in 2012.

Fans will see it happen with Dooley as coach, but not necessarily to our timeline.

As posted earlier....there may have been 6 really bad plays (costly) and maybe 4 more that were less serious in the Fla game. So, if those numbers can be cut down with each game, there should be a near perfect effort looming in 4-5 games.

Agreed, if Dooley is the right man and we continue to add talent than there is no excuse for this team not to be pretty good when 2012 rolls around. We'll know if Dooley is the right man by then to lead this team.

Dare I say it, but Dooley's recruiting will determine if he is the right fit or not. Only time will tell on that one.

Does any one here remember the first years of Johnny Majors tenure here? How about Bill Battle or Doug Dickey?

Not to pretty as I recall.

I happen to think that Derek Dooley is the right man for the job. That said, I am also willing to give him the necessary time to do the job.

Remember he saved a top 10 class. I would also like to see what he can do given the time to really recruit.

The fact that "We're so deficient in talent and in depth" ,and outplayed two top 10 teams for large amounts of the game means you can say, at this point. It looks like we could have a pretty good coach.
