Although I am disappointed in this hire, I realize that its time to support our coach and wish him every success. But then again, if wishes were horses beggers would ride.

I'm thinking we hired a Zook. I'm confident Dooley will recruit much better than Cutcliffe or Calhoun would have and will be better than Fulmer was at the end of his tenure. I have serious doubts about him leading us to championship contention, but I think worst case is that he leaves behind a much better scenario than either of the previous 2 coaches did.

Given the state of the program due to attrition / current recruiting class fallout, a time frame should be defined if voting “top of the conference”. Not gonna happen overnight.

Believe we have been set back 2 – 3 years on depth of roster.

Vote = Top of the conference in 4 to 5 years.:good!:

I think the argument could be made that if he leaves us in the same position that we are now, then he will have been a complete failure. He would leave us with little talent or depth and a .500 football team at best. To me, at the university of Tennessee, that consitutes a complete failure. I'm be hoping it works out in the end, but I'm skeptical at best right now.

Why is there not a choice titled - "Whatever hat thinks?"

:eek:lol:

About the poll, it'll be between the top 2. However, I think it depends more on his assistants he puts into place. He seems like Pete Carroll in that he's not, alone, a brilliant "Xs and Os guy" but he's a fantastic organizer, team leader and recruiter. Those, to me, go further to spell out overall team cohesion than just a brilliant OC/DC that has no team leading skills.

Saban was really high on him, so that at least warrants my support for the time being. His tenure, even with the consideration of the overall position he was in a LaTech is far from impressive. His quote about staying with Saban and taking this job over taking the LaTech job and diong what he's done does make him a better HC. His time as AD gives him a more holistic view of a program.

I think he'll probably catch the SECE (on rebuilding years) and maybe a SEC title. It all depends on who he gets for OC/DC/PCs and how they can recruit. If he can get a fantastic OC/DC and surround them with PCs that can bring in top-notch talent I think he's got more than enough going to win games.

How long Saban, Meyer and Richt stay at their posts plays a huge role. Who Bama, UF and UGA gets to replace them if they leave in the next 4-5 years plays a role.

I like his SEC DNA and his moxie, but I'll have to see how he does on the recruiting front before I can form an opinion. Go Vols!

I have to admit I'm astounded by the percentage that think he'll be that successful. I'm not saying he can't, I'm just wondering what there is to base it on.

lmao @ these results. You'd think with as much b*tching that has gone on the past few days that there would be a lot of negative votes. Surely those people didn't just decide to not vote.

He has a really good shot at taking us back to the promise land IMO. I'm really loving his classiness, organizational skills, and passion for the game/SEC tradition. He just seems like a workaholic and I can just tell that he is organized like Saban is. With all those factors put together I think he can do it.

I am believing in this guy more and more with each passing day. I might get blasted for this down the road, but I feel SEC champ in 4, NC in 6. JMHO

If (and very big if) the current players/recruits truly listen to what DD has to say, I believe this class will suprise in a positive way.
