Dooley staff / *Official* hires or dismissals

Well regardless of any of that, I believe Dooley will make a run at Garner. Give it time, recruiting is all that's on Dooley's mind right now, not assembling a staff.

If he could hire Garner, say tomorrow, I think that could have a big effect on recruiting.

Rucker is saying there are rumblings that Kippy didn't get the legit interview he expected...

Hope that doesn't put him off and make him not want to stick around.

I hope all the coaches stay,Heard from a source that Reaves saw Kiffen in his office Tuesday and that liar didn't even tell Reaves that him and USC were in contract negotiations so Reaves heard about Kiffin while out eating in Knoxville on ESPN.It just goes to show he dosen't even respect his own brother-in-law.

If we can hire Garner I`m all for it, But not as a DC they tried that at Georgia and it did not work! He is a great recruiter...recruiting cordinator, but not a great coach! Trooper is a far better on the field coach!

I'll take LT over RG any day of the week for DC!!! Recruiting they're basically equal, LT is younger, and a better XO guy. Remember, the deal breaker with Cut was staff. I think it's good that Hammy "got the back of" the "leftover" assistants! That's why there were several turndowns. It's all about how the coaching trees intertwine.

DR B. said Rodney Garner will be our DC along with Lance Thompson, BOOK IT! I also heard Dooley will be making a push at Trooper Taylor to get him on his staff. Sounds like the guy can put a staff together!

Links? And anyone who has said book it has been grossly wrong....lol:neener2:

Georgia fans would be pisssssssssed first a son of Dooley then that son stealing Garner from them

Didn't they steal Garner from us? If we steal him back, tough.

And considering how the school has treated Vince Dooley for the last several years, I wouldn't be surprised if Derek wouldn't like to beat the cold sh*t out of Georgia and send the game ball to their university president.

If Derek Dooley goes to Alabama with Saban from the Dolphins instead of taking that GAWD AWFUL JOB at La. Tech....we are not hiring him now....he is at Notre Dame more than likely! Welcome to Rocky Top Coach Dooley!

Heard Knoxville writer on Atlanta radio today( Dave Hooker?). Said that 6 coaches had years remaining on contracts. If Reaves is fired he is owed salary for 2 years. Hooker expects him to join USC as a grad assistant.

I don't know how his contract is worded, but we could pull a bammer and keep him around with other responsibilities outside coaching football. When bammer fired Mike Price, they did this with one of his sons that was on the staff. If you're paying for him anyway, why not have him as an assistant jock sniffer or something just as appealing.

I would go to the Bears too if I were Chaney. Not going to lie but losing Chaney really pisses me off. He is a stud.

If we don't retain Cregg then we can kiss Fulton goodbye.

I am so worried about the offensive line at this point. Pry going to be trash.

I hope he keeps Kippy. Anybody else, I could care less about it.

Really? Look at Chaney's resume while at Purdue.

I'll have whatever you're having if you care more about keeping Kippy over Chaney. Kippy is loyal but it doesn't change the fact that he is a position coach. Chaney was a heck of an offensive coordinator. Excellent coach and play caller.

Please not Trooper...

Why not?!? He absolutely TRANSFORMED our pitiful wide receivers after that horrid 2005 season! Plus he can recruit and brings a lot of energy and excitement to the team! Something this teams desperately needs right now! You think the fans are hurting? The team is hurting even more!

If Dooley were able to land Garner AND Trooper on his staff, then just about all will be forgiven by me! The only thing that would still sting is losing Monte. However if his DC at LA Tech is as good as they say, maybe it wouldn't be too bad.

I agree that he should take a long hard look at Chaney. I was VERY impressed by him when watching that Tennessee documentary early in the season. The man has a lot of intensity and I think he would have more freedom to call HIS type of game than he did under Kiffin.

Here? No Chaney was not calling the plays, and frankly it showed. I did see some of his style but I could tell it was going through the Kiffen ringer first. I had season tickets to my lovable loser Boilers all through the Brees/Chaney era we didn't lose much. He definitely developed Brees and had a heckuva run, but he was also part of the picture when we had an unknown in Billy Dicken and dang near won the Big Ten. That's too bad if he doesn't stay, because his offense truly unleashed with some skill players would turn the SEC on its head.

boys heres the deal: we could keep all six holdovers (not likely) or lose all (very very unlikely). My guess is we end up keeping four of the six, with the two that leave do so to take jobs----none will be "fired".
This coach will not do what the last one did, staffwise. It will be a work in progress.
Look for three new coaches to be named fairly quickly, as thats how many openings we presently have. Two are likely to come from his old staff.
