Why does no one like Trooper?

Also, I'm glad Kippy isn't too bitter by not getting the job to stay on and coach. He must really love this University, props to him.

Nope, it was Dooley. Everyone just assumed it was Smith because it was rumoured that a plane was on it's way to chicago to meet him. Which turned out to be a false report.

It's also easy to confuse those two, especially based on their records and qualifications.

Just got off the phone with a buddy is on the team. Here is what he said....

Ausmus told the players that he was not leaving. He loves TN and will stay as long as they want him there.

Reaves - seemed like the reports of not hearing from LK were true judging by his demeanor the last 2 days. Seems to think it was a no brainer that he would gone and quick.

Cregg - this is what I thought most interesting. He told the Sullins twins yesterday that he was really upset with the abrupt and disrespectful way LK and O left. Said that he never signed up for stuff like that. When asked if he would be following, he said no. Hoped to be retained or possibly land back in the NFL.

Thompson - working relationship with Dooley. Thompson spoke well of Dooley and they expected him to remain.

Heard Knoxville writer on Atlanta radio today( Dave Hooker?). Said that 6 coaches had years remaining on contracts. If Reaves is fired he is owed salary for 2 years. Hooker expects him to join USC as a grad assistant.
Kiffin is going to get knocked the funk out by somebody. I can just see a player or someone take it for the team and punch his lights after a game as they are crossing the field.

What a dick...leave your brother in law stranded, and hope that TN is fool enough to pay him to coach at USC...why, just because he bailed. What a low-down classless bunch USC and Kiffin is. They really deserve each other, don't they?

Bet Reaves is waiting to be fired, collect his severance and joins kiffin in LA.

I believe the only way he would get a buyout is if he wasn't working. In most cases if the fired person gets another job the old employers paychecks stop coming. So if he goes to USC he wouldn't get a buyout. BTW, I heard on the radio that he learned about Kif getting the new job on the news like everybody else so he was out of the loop the whole time. Looks like his brother-in-law used him to try and steal a few SC recruits last year.

Why? LT can't coach a lick. He's a recruiter, that's all he's good for.
That ain't what Monte said about him. He grilled Lance for hours when he interviewed him. He's a Monte disciple...as close as you can get, as all season long he was Monte's shadow.

-- He is bringing his DB coach. Confirmed. Supposed to be a recruiting stud.
-- He is also bringing his OC. Does this mean Chaney and/or Kippy are out? Will his OC at LT be the OC here?
-- Also, 1 more of his old staff was mentioned. Don't know what position.

-- I sincerely hope that Lance Thompson is retained, that would be a huge loss recruiting-wise and he wants to stay. Plus, he worked with DD, previously with Saban.

Please post here as we have confirmations of staff in or out.

optomism is beginning to fade.

I don't want Garner as DC--good grief. He's never been a coordinator--and you'd think he would be by now if he were truly DC material. I know that he's been a good recruiter, obviously.

The LA Tech website now shows that they have no head coach, DLine coach, or WR coach, anyone know who these guys were. I saw where Joseph and Spangler are still listed on their web site.
I hope he doesn't attempt to bring in a lower tier DL coach...you got Chester McGlockton, who was an intern working with Orgeron. The guy is a NFL ProBowl lineman...no lower tier coach can hang with him. Either in technique or recruting.

Wonder if Chaney would consider being the QB coach assuming Dooley brings in his own OC? I mean Chaney has had as much success developing QB"s as Cutcliffe with the Mannings.

I would like to see Reaves stay, I can't help but think he had a big role in developing Crompton this past year!! Plus, I read somewhere that he was highly pissed at Lame, and couldn't wait to have the chance to play against him.

As far as Gunther Brewer, I think that would be good. I went to Marshall when he was wr coach there with Moss and Pennington, and Marshall landed a 13-0 season finsishing 10th in the nation!! Plus Ok St has some pretty good recievers!!

And that article on Brewer was from this morning, things could have changed by now...

Okay... so we can assume Gunter is coming... to much going on for it not to be.

I think Garza with his ties to Texas might be an interesting option for Dooley.

Thompson stays.

Kippy Stays.

Cregg stays.

Asmus stays.

Chaney and Reaves are gone.

Assuming Reaves is out that leaves us without a quarterbacks coach, Chaney did coach up some pretty good quarterbacks in his day. If he is willing to take a demotion to QB coach I could see where Chaney stays. That is if we do indeed hire Gunter as the next OC.

Dr. B said it was a big fish and we were going to be paying him $4 mill per year.

DD is not a big fish, and is not making $4 mill.

He knows no more than people here, he just has a platform to broadcast his rumors.

Good hire. Trained by Nick Saban, best coach in the nation. If you could just add a few of Meyer's students you might have a chance to compete again in the SEC east.:dance2::dance2:

Well regardless of any of that, I believe Dooley will make a run at Garner. Give it time, recruiting is all that's on Dooley's mind right now, not assembling a staff.
