He spoke at the tipoff club today. Nothing really groundbreaking.

Chaney will call plays.

He's spending a lot of time getting to know the players.

He seemed very pleased with the staff he assembled.

More later.

Did he say he would do more publicity stops and speaking gigs? I understand we went for the anti-Kiffin but man I sure would like a few of those "sound bites" now.

As much of a fan I was of the former staff, people were going to be in and out all the time if Kiffin would've stayed... With this staff I expect the majority of them to return (maybe not CLT) and build a good relationship with future recruits and current players.

When is he going to start taking shots at other coaches around the SEC?

You mean...when is going to start taking "calculated" digs at superior coaches and commit "calculated" secondary violations in order to get UT's name in the headlines? :)

He didn't really speak a lot about football specifics. He spoke a lot more about administrative aspects of the program, using words like 'team building' and 'mission'.

Dooley told a funny story about a booster's wife mistaking him for a player.

Said he hasn't been ducking the media, but rather nothing has happened and he hasn't really done anything to speak about.

Why CLT?

"Character education" was another topic -- to help educate kids as people. To help them determine the difference between what is right and what is wrong. He believes most of the time the kids are good, they just make bad choices sometimes.

Said the fans want a team that is fun to watch and one that represents the program with class. He hopes to provide both.

Thanks for the info Freak. Hopefully the negative comments will stop because he has not spoken will die down. It is great that we have a coach that does not have 'foot in mouth' disease.

Dooley also touched on his assistants not speaking to the media. He said he hasn't finished his media policy but he likes to be the spokesman for the program, not the assistants. He compared it to a company who has a single spokesperson, not 15 different ones out speaking to the media. However, the media will have some access to the assistant coaches.

He did touch on recruiting rankings and not surprisingly, said he doesn't put much stock in them. It's more important how a class looks three or four years from now.

I am just glad he really exist and isn't a paid actor Hammy paid to calm down the coaching search rumors. Long live Coach Dooley(as long as he's winning within 4 years)
